CAR WASH WILL HELP PAY FOR CANCER CARE

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A fund-raiser for a 2-year-old Glen Burnie girl suffering from a rare form of cancer has been rescheduled for this Saturday.

The Glen Burnie office of Allstate Insurance Co. wanted to donate money raisedat a car wash last weekend to Cheryl and Ken Linton, who are struggling to pay their daughter's medical bills. But the car wash was rained out.

The Lintons have no medical insurance to cover the treatment their daughter, Carol, needs to battle neuroblastoma, a tumor of the nerve cells. Carol was diagnosed with the cancer, which requires at leasta year of chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant. Her diagnosis is good, but the bills are mounting, her family said.

The car wash starts at 8 a.m. at Allstate's headquarters at 500 Crain Highway and will continue all day, said Lola Thorpe, a claims administrator with the company.
