Sixteen horses, comprising one of the largest prospective fields in the history of the race, have been entered for Saturday's Maryland Hunt Cup in Glyndon.

Included in the lineup are Cabral, winner of the My Lady's Manor and Grand National point-to-points in his last two starts, and Tom Bob, who has previously finished second in the 4-mile steeplechase.

Four women jockeys, the most ever, have been named to ride. They are Blythe Miller (on Cabral), Sanna Neilson (Tom Bob), Anne Moran (The Wool Merchant) and Liz McKnight, who entered two horses, Pleasant Sea and Cotuit. However, she is only expected to run one of them.

Trainer Nancy Knox also entered two horses -- Ballybranogue and Sensory Perception -- but probably will start just one.

The actual field might drop to 13 or 14 runners by the 4 p.m. Saturday post time.

The race could mark the first time in Hunt Cup history that a father, Paddy Neilson, competes against his daughter, Sanna Neilson.

The race, contested over 22 fences, is considered among the world's most difficult steeplechases. The course is located at the Snow Hill-Worthington Farms complex on Tufton Avenue near Glyndon.
