Sister Mary Alice

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

Sister Mary Alice O'Gallagher, O.S.F., who taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Middle River and, earlier, at three other schools in the Baltimore area, died of cancer Sunday at Assisi House in Aston, Pa., where she had lived since late March.

A mass of Christian burial for Sister Mary Alice, who was 55, was being offered today at Assisi House, the retirement home of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia.

Before joining the faculty at the Middle River school in 1988, she taught for four years at St. Elizabeth's School in East Baltimore.

From 1969 until 1977, she taught at Immaculate Conception School in Towson, and from 1977 until 1979 at St. Lawrence School in Woodlawn.

Born Shirley Theresa O'Gallagher in Philadelphia, she graduated from Hallahan High School there and from Villanova University.

She is survived by two sisters who live in Florida.
