CLEVELAND -- Storm Davis pitched a five-hitter for his first shutout since 1985 and Kirk Gibson homered for the third straight game, as the Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Indians, 6-0, last night.

It was the fourth time the Indians have been blanked in 12 games this season. They are 1-4 at home.

Davis (2-1) pitched his first complete game of the season and only his third in the last five years, walking none and striking out four. His last shutout was a three-hit, 6-0 win against Seattle on Aug. 30, 1985, while with Baltimore.

Davis is 10-2 lifetime against Cleveland, including 6-0 at Cleveland Stadium.

Gibson had three hits, including his fifth home run, a bases-empty shot in the fifth inning. Warren Cromartie also had three hits, including an infield single that started the Royals' four-run second inning.

Eric King (1-2) lasted 4 1/3 innings, giving up six runs and 10 hits.

Kansas City scored four runs on six hits in the second. Mike Macfarlane doubled home the first run, Brian McRae hit a two-run single, and Kevin Seitzer hit an RBI single.

The Royals added single runs in the third on Kurt Stillwell's RBI single and in the fifth on Gibson's 420-foot home run to right-center.
