Waldorf woman killed in two-car accident

A 48-year-old Waldorf woman died of injuries sustaine yesterday in a two-car accident near Berlin in Worcester County.

Joane Marcia Phillips died of massive head injuries, said Sue Danaher, nursing supervisor at Peninsula General Hospital Center in Salisbury. Ms. Phillips died at 4:33 p.m., about four hours after she was thrown from a car in an accident on U.S. 50 at Route 818.

She was a passenger in a 1991 Plymouth that was eastbound on U.S. 50 when it collided with a 1979 Oldsmobile going north on Route 818, state police said. Ms. Phillips was flown by a state police helicopter to Peninsula General. Police said they were still investigating the incident. The drivers of the cars were not injured.
