Severna Park's top-ranked girls lacrosse team lost for the first time after 57 straight victories, 17-16, in overtime to No. 5 Chesapeake of Anne Arundel County last night at Severna Park.
Just two days earlier, Northeast's softball team lost a 64-game winning streak.
Chesapeake's Diane McBee (eight goals) forced the overtime by LTC scoring a goal with four seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score at 13.
Chesapeake (8-0), which has won 13 straight, led, 16-14, after the first overtime -- there are two three-minute overtime periods in girls lacrosse -- and extended its lead to 17-14 before holding on for the victory.
"A 57-game winning streak is just mind-boggling," Chesapeake coach Jim Buchan said. "I don't think I've even coached 57 games. Our kids worked really hard for this."
