A Prince George's County man suffered a fatal heart attack last night while driving on Route 24 near Edgewood, causing his car to veer across the road and strike another car, injuring its driver, state police said.

Arthur W. Hurley, 75, of Landover Hills was driving south on Route 24 when he had the apparent heart attack, police said. His car careened across the road, stuck a guard rail, drove up and down an embankment and struck a light pole, then entered the eastbound lane of Route 7.

After hitting a car stopped there, Mr. Hurley's car overturned and came to rest upside down in the eastbound lane of Route 7. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The driver of the other car, Ramon Lee Harrison, 50, of Bel Air, was taken to the Fallston General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition last night.
