Agamemnon Koutsogiorgas, 68, the former deputy prime minister of Greece and one of the main defendants in a $210 million corruption trial, died Thursday of a stroke in Athens. Mr. Koutsogiorgas, a legal adviser and ranking minister under former Socialist prime minister Andreas Papandreou's Socialist administration that governed from 1981-1989, fell ill at his trial on April 13. After the Socialist government's defeat at the polls in June 1989, Mr. Koutsogiorgas and others were charged with corruption in the multimillion-dollar embezzlement of the privately owned Bank of Crete.
