ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Western District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station pending charges that he assaulted a police officer who was arresting him in the 1700 block of Harlem Ave. Police said Officer Charles Hymiller was bitten on the right hand and later treated at Bon Secours Hospital and released. It was not immediately known why the man was being arrested.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a car owned by the Maryland Auto Insurance Fund while it was parked in the 6500 block of Belair Road and removed two pairs of prescription eyeglasses. Police said the property was valued at nearly $340 and that entry into the vehicle was by forcing a rear door.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Shirleen Webb, of the 900 block of Gorsuch Ave., reported that someone stole her automatic teller machine card and removed more than $200 from her account.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a truck owned by the Three Rivers Trucking Co. while it was parked in the 6700 block of Quad Ave. and removed seven multispeed bikes. Police said the bikes had a total value of nearly $1,800.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Dennis Jackson, of the 900 block of Belgian Ave., reported he was in the 2200 block of Pentland Drive when he was stopped by two men, one armed with a handgun, who demanded his money. Police said the gunman and his accomplice fled with more than $150.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Gail Pridgen, of the 1800 block of Sauers Court, reported that someone entered her room at Good Samaritan Hospital, in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Blvd., while she was asleep and removed personal property valued at more than $260 from her nightstand.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- A truck driver for Robin Express, of Cleveland, reported that while his tractor-trailer was parked in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway, someone broke into the tractor and removed property valued at more than $250. The unidentified driver told police the thief made off with $135, a briefcase and a travel bag. Police said entry was gained by breaking one of the tractor's windows with a rock.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of the West Coast Video store in the 7600 block of Harford Road reported that someone broke into the building by cutting a hole in the roof. Police said the intruder removed more than $900 from an office safe and a cash box.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 2200 block of Lake Ave. reported that someone broke into his garage and removed a saw valued at more than $500. Police said entry was gained by forcing the garage door.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that a deliverywoman for Domino's pizza in the 6300 block of Kenwood Ave. was robbed of cash and personal property while making a delivery in the 5900 block of Daywalt Ave. Police said the woman turned over more than $100 and property to an unarmed man who accosted her. The man fled. Police said the call for a food order at the address was fake and that it the latest in a series of phony telephone orders for food from at least two pizza shops in the area in the past few days.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Jennifer Hartman, of the 3900 block of Ridgecroft Road, reported she was talking on an outside telephone in the 3200 block of Belair Road when a man armed with a handgun approached and demanded she give up her money. Police said the gunman fled with less than $10.
THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to the McCrory's department store in the 5400 block of Harford Road arrested a 14-year-old boy who attempted to leave the store without paying for items valued at nearly $9. The youth, who was charged with delinquency in the theft, was released in the custody of his parents pending action by juvenile authorities.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Motlagh Parvizi, of the 3200 block of Chesterfield Ave., reported she was about to enter her car in the 5100 block of Sinclair Lane when a man approached her from behind, reached over her back and stole her purse. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at nearly $170.
ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Chauncey Chase, 19, of the 7200 block of Sauers Court, reported that during an incident in the 1800 block of Maulsby Court, he was attacked and assaulted by a young male. Police said the youth was arrested and that Chase was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries. Following assault charges, police said the youth was released in the custody of his parents.
THEFT: Northern District -- Uchenna Okoli, of the 2700 block of Oakley Ave., reported that someone entered her property and removed a lawnmower. Police said the property was valued at more than $300.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of the Hair Cuttery in the 6300 block of York Road reported that someone broke into the building by forcing the front door and removed more than $100 from a secured area.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1400 block of Mosher St. reported that someone broke into her home and removed a television and a videocassette recorder. Police said the property was valued at nearly $1,000.
SHOOTING: Western District -- Derrick Williams, of the 1900 block of Division St., reported he was in the 2300 block of Clifton Ave. when he was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who shot him in the left leg. Police said Williams was taken by ambulance to Maryland General Hospital, where he was listed today in good condition. Police said they had no motive for the shooting and no one in custody.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that Bonita Brown, of the 800 block of W. Pratt St., was in the 1900 block of W. Franklin St. when she was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who ordered her to give up her money. Police said Brown complied, giving the gunman $2.
CAB HOLDUP: Western District -- An Arrow cab driver reported that upon arriving in the 500 block of Gold St., he was ordered by two male passengers, one armed with a small-caliber semi-automatic handgun, to give up his money. Police said the driver complied, giving one of the men more than $100. Police said both men escaped on foot.
ROBBERY/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Police arrested man and charged him with robbing Randolph McRea, 24, of the 100 block of N. Colvin St., near his home yesterday. McRea told police he was attacked from behind by two men who robbed him of $30. Later, McRea saw one of the men and notified police. Police arrested Juan Gray, 24, of the 1000 block of Orleans St., and charged him with robbery. Police said Gray was held overnight at the station pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner. Police said the second man was being sought.
BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- A resident of the 100 block of S. Linwood Ave. reported that someone broke into his home and removed at least one stereo speaker and a videocassette recorder. Police said the property was valued at nearly $400.
BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $200 was removed from a dwelling in the 100 block of S. Exeter St. after someone gained entry through a window. Police said the burglar escaped with a television.
ASSAULT: Southeastern District -- Malcolm Cummings, of the 2600 block of E. Madison St., reported he was in the 2000 block of E. Fairmount Ave. yesterday when he was attacked by a man armed with a knife who cut him. Police said Cummings was not seriously injured. A suspect was arrested in connection with the incident and was held overnight at the station pending charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the station in connection with the burglary yesterday of Flower Masters in the 3100 block of Chestnut Ave. Police said the man entered the business through a second-floor window and was attempting to leave with a gold chain, a tape measure and an Oriental chest when he was arrested.
THEFT: Northern District -- Steven Boesel, of the 4100 block of Greenway, reported that someone entered his property between p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. yesterday and removed wrought iron pedestal flower pots from his back yard. Boesel told police the property was valued at $1,000.
THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone entered a house in the 2500 block of Violet Ave. and removed a videocassette recorder and a gray suitcase. Jacqueline Knox, the occupant, told police the property was valued at nearly $400.
Baltimore County
ARRESTS: Garrison District -- Police reported that a 24-year-old man and a teen-ager each were charged with the armed robbery early yesterday of a couple outside their apartment in the 100 block of Willow Bend Drive. Police said the adult, Steven Short, of the 100 block of Willow Bend Drive, and 16-year-old Kevin Robinson, of the first block of Enchanted Hills Road, each were charged with armed robbery and using a handgun in the commission of a felony. Short and Robinson were held overnight at the district lockup in lieu of $50,000 bail each pending a bail review hearing today in District Court. Police said the two were arrested at their homes several hours after the couple was robbed of cash and property by two males, one armed with a handgun. Police said descriptions of the suspects given police by the victims led to warrants being issued for their arrests.
Anne Arundel
SHOOTING: Annapolis -- Police reported that David Beavers, 24, of the 200 block of Gross Ave., Annapolis, was listed in good condition at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after he was shot in the neck during an argument with another man outside a dwelling at the Annapolis Gardens apartments in the 1800 block of Bowman Court. Police said Beavers and another man, Norman Dorsey, of Georgia, were assaulted by a man whom police later arrested. Police said that in addition to the man being suspected of shooting Beavers, he also is suspected of hitting Dorsey in the head with the butt of a handgun. Police said Dorsey was released from the hospital following treatment. Police said a reason for the shooting of Beavers and the assault on Dorsey was not immediately known.
BURGLARY: Annapolis -- A resident of the 2500 block of Riva Road reported to police that someone broke into his home through a door and removed about $1,000.
BURGLARY: Annapolis -- Police said jewelry of unknown value was removed from a home in the first block of Acorn Drive after someone gained entry by forcing a door.
Howard County
ROBBERY: Savage -- Police reported a teen-age attendant at the Exxon service station in the 9000 block of Washington Blvd. was standing outside the station when he was approached by a man who forced him back inside the station while implying he was armed with a knife. Police said that when the attendant refused to give up the money, a struggle broke out during which the man removed $2 from the attendant's pocket. Police said the man fled into a woods next to the Storch Woods apartment complex. Police said the attendant was not injured.
