THE BALTIMORE SUN

A memorial service for Ola J. Umbarger, who lived in Harford County for more than 50 years, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.

Mrs. Umbarger, who was 91, died Sunday at a nursing home in Havre de Grace. She had been in ill health since breaking a hip a year ago.

She was born Ola J. Francis in Helton, N.C., and graduated from Helton Academy. She moved to Harford County in 1916. Later, she married Lafayette Umbarger, who was a farmer and worked for a lumber company. He died in 1972.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary E. Corddry of Churchville, a retired reporter for The Sun; two brothers, J. Russell Francis of Payson, Ariz., and Wiley W. Francis of Harlan, Iowa; a sister, Nina Streeter of Lynchburg, Va.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggested contributions to the Grace United Methodist Church.
