HCC PAIR WIN PR AWARDS

Harford Community College graphic designer Suzanne Beaty and associate professor of photography John Radcliffe received third-place honors at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations' ParagonAwards.

Their winning entry was the Phoenix Festival Theater 1990season poster, which was designed by Beaty and featured a photographby Radcliffe.

The Paragon awards recognize excellence in media and publicationsfor the community, junior and technical colleges throughout the United States.

Beaty earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and a master of fine arts degree from Syracuse University. Her major at Syracuse was illustration.

Inaddition to her work at the college, Beaty has illustrated several children's books and is teaching a non-credit course at HCC on "The Business of Being an Artist," designed for students considering a career in art.

Radcliffe has exhibited extensively in the Baltimore-Washington area, including Northern Virginia Community College, the Foundry Gallery and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, the Dalsheimer Gallery, Goucher College, and the Baltimore Museum of Art in Baltimore. His photographs have become part of the permanent collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Corcoran Gallery.

Radcliffe recently received a City of Baltimore Arts Grant and will exhibit his work in the upcoming "Photography Now" show at the Center for Photography in Woodstock, N.Y.
