Horowitz breaks tie, leads Keys by Bulls, 5-3 FREDERICK

DURHAM, N.C. -- Catcher Ed Horowitz broke a 2-2 tie with a bases-loaded single in the top of the seventh inning, scoring two runs to propel the Frederick Keys to a 5-3 win over the Durham Bulls last night in a Class A Carolina League game.

The Keys trailed 2-1 entering the seventh, but an RBI single by third baseman Randy Berlin tied the scored. The single by Horowitz scored Sergio Cairo and Damon Buford for a 4-2 Frederick lead.

Left-hander John O'Donoghue (1-0) pitched seven strong innings, striking out seven while allowing only three hits. During one stretch in the sixth and seventh innings, O'Donoghue, a resident of Elkton, struck out four in row, all four on called third-strike curve balls.

Baltimore native Brian Bark (Randallstown High) started for the Bulls, struck out seven and allowed just three hits over five innings.
