SHOOTING: Central District -- Police reported that David Carr, of the 1400 block of Division St., was listed in fair condition today at the University of Maryland Medical Center after he was shot twice Wednesday evening near his home. Police said a gunman wearing a jacket with a floral design shot Carr in the left index finger and lower back with an unknown caliber handgun.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Police reported that Officer Scott Gerber entered a dwelling in the 1000 block of Thames St. while investigating a burglary and arrested a man who had broken in through a second-floor window. Police said Bradley Jones, 23, whose address was not immediately available, was charged with burglary and held overnight at the police station pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner. Police said the dwelling was occupied by a 25-year-old woman who reported that someone had broken into her home and was still inside.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 500 block of Laurens St. reported that someone broke into his home through a third-floor window and removed an AM-FM stereo cassette radio and two stereo speakers. Police said the property was valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,000 was removed from a dwelling in the 200 block of E. Preston St. after someone entered the dwelling through the front door. Police said the intruder made off with two leather coats, a cloth coat, $35 in coins and a radio.

THEFT: Central District -- Ronald Collins, of the 1500 block of Wadsworth Way, told police that while his car was parked in the first block of E. Biddle St., someone broke into the vehicle and removed a radar detector, a cassette player and an audio booster. Police said the property was valued at more than $100 and that entry was gained by breaking a rear window.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Kevin Giger, of the 600 block of George St., reported he was near his home early yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one armed with an unknown caliber handgun, who ordered him to give up his money. Police said the gunman and his accomplice fled the scene with about $25 in cash.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Police today were seeking three men, one armed with an unknown caliber handgun, who entered the China Doll restaurant in the 400 block of Park Ave. and ordered an employee to give them money from the cash register. Police said the armed man and his accomplices escaped with about $50 in cash.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 800 block of St. Paul St. reported that someone entered his apartment between Wednesday and yesterday and removed property valued at more than $100.

THEFT: Central District -- James Camenga, of the first block of E. Main St. in Westminster, Carroll County, reported that while his car was parked in the 1000 block of Cathedral St. between Wednesday and yesterday, someone removed property valued at more than $100.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Steven Crawfish, of the 3400 block of Springdale Ave., told police he was in the 100 block of E. North Ave. early yesterday when he was stopped by a man who asked him for change. Crawfish told police the man then hit him with an unknown hard object and robbed him of $5 he held in his hand. Police said the suspect, a man known as "Cadillac," was being sought in connection with the robbery.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A 23-year-old resident of the first block of E. Eager St. reported that someone broke into her apartment between Wednesday and yesterday and removed property valued at more than $600. Police said entry was gained by removing a metal grate from a window. Police said the burglar made off with a telephone, an AM-FM stereo receiver, speakers, a compact disc player, 25 compact discs and jewelry.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5900 block of Radecke Ave. reported that someone broke into her home by forcing the front door and removed a telephone and a quantity of coins.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at nearly $2,000 was removed from a dwelling in the 4700 block of Duncrest Ave. after someone gained entry by forcing the front door. Police said the burglar made off with stereo equipment and a computer game.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Steven Levy, of the 4100 block of Westview Road, reported that someone broke into his garage and removed tools valued at $1,000.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Lindsey Bryan, of the 7700 block of Victory Ave., reported that during an incident near his home Wednesday night, he was attacked by two men he knows and that they beat him with their fists and a hard object. Police said Bryan was taken to an area hospital where he was treated for head lacerations and released.

THEFT: Central District -- Gertrude Purchase, of the 800 block of St. Paul St., reported that someone entered her place of employment in the 100 block of W. Mulberry St. and removed her purse from under her desk. Purchase told police the purse contained cash and property, all valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Police reported that someone broke into his apartment in the 700 block of St. Paul St. and removed a VCR. Police said the break-in occurred between Wednesday night and early yesterday morning and that the property was valued at more than $300. Police said entry was gained by forcing the front door.

THEFT: Central District -- Lloyd Elliott, of the 2300 block of Old Court Road in Baltimore County, reported that while his truck was parked in the first block of Wine Alley yesterday, someone broke into the vehicle and removed tools valued at more than $900. Police said entry was gained by breaking a vent window.

THEFT: Central District -- David Miles, of the 6700 block of Bonnie Ridge Drive in Baltimore County, reported that someone broke into his car while the vehicle was parked in the first block of S. Gay St. and removed property valued at $500. Police said entry was gained by breaking the vent window.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Michael Chenowith, a resident of Pennsylvania, reported that property valued at nearly $400 was removed from his car while the vehicle was parked Wednesday in the 700 block of N. Caroline St. Police said entry was gained by breaking a vent window and that the thief made off with hand and power tools and an AM-FM radio.

ASSAULT: Southeastern District -- Police said Carlton Raur, of the 7300 block of Mallory Court in the Hollander Ridge Apartments, was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital early yesterday and released following treatment for numerous lacerations of the arms and shoulders, after he was cut with a knife during an argument with a woman inside an apartment in the 1000 block of Orleans St. Police said the Raur knows the woman. Raur was advised to seek a warrant for her arrest for aggravated assault.

THEFT/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Police responding to the G.C. Murphy department store in the first block of S. Broadway arrested a man who attempted to leave the premises without paying for two packages of undershirts valued at $14. Police said Levon Moody, 25, whose address was not immediately available, was being held at the police station pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner. Police said Moody was detained by a store security officer until police officers arrived.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Employees of Sun's jewelry store in the 2100 block of E. Monument St. reported a man entered their store yesterday afternoon and fled moments later with 40 pairs of earrings. Police said the jewelry was valued at nearly $240.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Mark Hill, 29, of the 200 block of N. Luzerne Ave., reported he was in the 700 block of N. Patterson Park Ave. yesterday afternoon when he was accosted by four youths, one armed with a handgun, who robbed him of his jewelry, cash and a jacket. Police said the robbers took more than $1,400 in cash and property. Police said Hill recognized at least two of the suspects, known as Tavon and Omar, but didn't know the other two.

ASSAULT: Southeastern District -- Police were seeking William Thompson, of the 500 block of N. Milton Ave., in connection with shooting at his wife and a man during an incident inside a house in the 2400 block of E. Monument St. yesterday evening. Police said Thompson and his wife, Melissa, 23, were arguing when the husband allegedly retrieved a handgun and fired at least one shot at his wife. Police said the bullet missed the wife then passed through the shirt of Kelvin Addison, 26, who was standing near the wife. Police said the husband fled the scene and that a warrant charging him with assault by shooting and a handgun violation has been issued for his arrest.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Bernice Donohue,44, of the 400 block of N. Streeper St., reported she was walking in the 2200 block of McElderry St. around 4 p.m. yesterday when a man approached her from behind and shoved her to the ground. Police said the man then stole Donohue's purse and fled. Police said the purse contained a small sum of cash.

Baltimore County

SUSPICIOUS FIRE: Parkville District -- Police said a fire that caused at least $5,000 damage to a tanning salon and a carpet shop in the 8000 block of Harford Road was apparently set by someone who piled several pallets on top of each other in the rear of the business and set them ablaze. Police said the fire entered the interior of Color Me Tan and J D Carpets Inc., causing serious damage to both business. Reported at 12:35 a.m. by a police officer who spotted the smoke and flames, the fire was declared under control in about 30 minutes. The fire is being investigated by the arson squad.

Anne Arundel

ANIMAL CRUELTY: Davidsonville -- Police arrested a man and charged him with fatally shooting a cow while the animal grazed in a field off the 7400 block of Governor Bridge Road. Police said the man was driving around 10 p.m. on March 28 when he stopped his car and began arguing with another occupant of the vehicle. During the argument, police said, the man got a handgun from inside the vehicle and shot the cow as it stood in the field not far from the roadway. Later, police received information about the incident and arrested Jerry Lee Haines, 18, of the 1100 block of Summit Drive in Annapolis. Police said Haines, who was charged with destruction of property and a handgun violation, was released on his own recognizance.

ROBBERY: Annapolis -- Police reported a Reisterstown, Baltimore County, woman was robbed of her purse while standing on the corner of St. John and Calvert streets earlier this week. The victim, whose name was not available, told police a man approached her from behind and stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at about $50. Police said the man escaped, running towards St. John's College.

BURGLARY: Annapolis -- A resident of the 1800 block of Lindamoor Drive reported that someone broke into his home through a door and removed several appliances. Police said the property was valued at more than $200.
