BANK ROBBERY: Central District -- Police today were seeking a man who robbed the First American Bank of Maryland in the 200 block of E. Lombard St. of an undisclosed sum of cash. Police said the man entered the bank at 2 p.m. yesterday and ordered at least one teller to give him money while pointing a handgun at her. The man escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Police said two employees of Cookies Inc. in the 300 block of N. Howard St. were forced to the floor of the shop and tied with shoe strings by two men who robbed the store of cash and took jewelry from the victims. Police said the robbery occurred about 3 p.m. yesterday and that each man was armed with what appeared to be a small-caliber handgun.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Gregory Carter, of the 1300 block of Division St., reported that he was in the 1300 block of Etting St. late Sunday evening when he was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who demanded his money. Police said the gunman robbed Carter of $40 in cash and escaped on foot.

SHOOTING: Central District -- Police reported that Tyrone Jacobs, of the 1600 block of N. Montford Ave., was in the 1900 block of St. Paul St. shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one armed with a handgun, who demanded he give up his money. Police said that instead of complying with the gunman's order, Jacobs struggled with the man. Police said that during the struggle, the gunman shot Jacobs in the chest and arm. Police said the gunman and his accomplice fled without robbing the injured Jacobs. Police said Jacobs was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was listed today in fair condition.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Police assigned to a special robbery detail arrested a man and charged him with the strong-arm robbery of Darryl Jones, of the 1600 block of E. 33rd St., during an incident in the 700 block of Washington Place about 4 a.m. yesterday. Police said Jones was attacked by a man who robbed him of his wallet, which contained more than $100 in cash. After the robbery, Jones described the robber to two plainclothes police officers. Police said the officers canvassed the area looking for a robbery suspect and arrested Gerald Pima, of the 3900 block of Penhurst Ave., and charged him with assault and robbery. Police said Pima was being held at the station lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Mary Harper, of the 10500 block of Park Heights Ave. in Owings Mills, told police she was sitting in her car and prepared to pay a cashier before leaving a parking lot in the 1000 block of N. Charles about 9:30 a.m. yesterday when a man walked up to the driver's side of her car and snatched her wallet from her grasp. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at nearly $100.

ROBBERY: Central District -- John Randall, of the 1700 block of Eutaw Place, reported that he was walking near his home yesterday afternoon when he was attacked by a man who knocked him to the ground and robbed him of his wallet containing cash, credit cards and other items. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $200.

RAPE: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a 15-year-old resident of the 1800 block of E. 32nd St. and charged him as a delinquent in the rape of a 12-year-old girl. Police said the girl had invited the suspect into her home before the incident occurred. Following charges, the youth was released in the custody of his parents pending action by juvenile authorities. Police said the rape occurred more than a week ago.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Upshire Road reported that someone entered her home and removed stereo receiving and recording equipment valued at $600. Police said entry appeared to have been with a key.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Dean McCullough, of the 1600 block of Carswell St., reported he was in the 2800 block of Kennedy Ave. early yesterday when he was accosted by a man armed with a handgun who struck him over the head with the weapon and robbed him of $40.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of Jerry's Brokers in the 5400 block of Harford Road reported that someone broke into the building early yesterday and removed gold jewelry from a show case. Police said the jewelry was valued at $1,000 and that entry was gained through a front window.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at $100 was removed from a vehicle owned by Monika Mone, of the 3300 block of Kenyon Ave., while the vehicle was parked near her home.

Baltimore County

ROBBERY: Cockeysville -- Police today continued to search for two armed men who robbed the McDonald's fast-food outlet in the 3400 block of Sweet Air Road early Sunday. Police said that when James Schmidt, 21, the assistant manager, and Daniel Seibert, 19, an employee, were leaving the eating place after closing at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, they were accosted by two masked men on the parking lot who ordered them back into the restaurant. Police said one man was armed with a shotgun and that the other carried a handgun. Inside the establishment, the gunman removed about $700 from an office and then forced Schmidt and Seibert into a walk-in freezer. Several minutes later, both men left the freezer and called police.

ARRESTS: Wilkens District -- Police early today arrested two men in connection with the burglary last night of a garage in the 5100 block of S. Rolling Road. Police said someone broke into the garage and removed a chain saw and then attempted to steal a tractor. Police said the tractor was moved to the outside then abandoned. Police responding to the burglary searched the area before finding two men they suspected of breaking into the garage. Police said the two men were taken to the station for questioning.

BURGLARY: Cockeysville District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 1400 block of Autumn Leaf Road over the weekend and removed jewelry valued at nearly $3,200. Police said the jewelry was removed from the dwelling in a pillow case, which also was reported missing. Police said entry was gained through a bedroom window.

BURGLARY: Cockeysville District -- A resident of the 20000 block of Valley Mill Road in the Freeland section of northern Baltimore County reported that someone broke into his home while he was on vacation and removed money from a piggy bank. Police said the intruder caused at least $1,000 damage to the house while breaking in.

Anne Arundel County

RAPE: Brooklyn Park -- An 18-year-old woman reported to police that while hitchhiking toward South Baltimore, she got into a red pickup truck driven by a man who said he would drive her home. Instead, the man drove the woman to the Cedar Hill Cemetery on Ritchie Highway and raped her inside the vehicle. Following the attack, the man drove off. The woman walked to a nearby house and reported the incident to a resident, who called police.

ARREST: Annapolis -- City police arrested a 24-year-old resident of the 100 block of Solomons Island Road and charged him with robbing two businesses on West Street. Police said George Brown Jr. was charged with robbing the Jiffy Lube station March 21 and the Woodburner Shop April 3. Arrested with Brown and also charged in the Jiffy Lube robbery was Billy Watkins, 39, of the 1800 block of Bowman Court in Annapolis. Police said Brown, who was a suspect in the robberies, was arrested after he was seen on Admiral Drive. When police approached him, Brown attempted to elude capture by hiding in a section of tall grass just off Admiral Drive. Near where he was captured, police recovered a sawed-off shotgun believed to have been used in the Jiffy Lube holdup. Police said Brown also was being investigated in connection with several other armed robberies.

Carroll County

ARRESTS: Westminster -- Police arrested a Westminster man and a resident of Columbia in connection with the theft of $17,000 worth of tools and equipment from J.C. Kirby Enterprises on Bert Koontz Road. The burglaries occurred March 16 and March 28. Police said Shawn James Long, 20, of the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave., Westminster, and Bryan Keith Simpson, 20, of the 5900 block of Tamar Drive, Columbia, were arrested after undercover police purchased several tools for nearly $3,000. Later, the tools were identified as belonging to the company that reported the burglaries. Police said Long was being held in the county detention center in lieu of $10,000 bail for theft and another $1,000 bail for failing to appear for a child-support hearing. Police said Simpson is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

THEFT: Westminster -- Clair W. Study, of the 3400 block of Littlestown Pike, reported that someone entered his property and removed a piece of equipment from his tractor. Police said the equipment was valued at nearly $500 and that the theft occurred between March 1 and April 7.

THEFT: Eldersburg -- A resident of the 2000 block of Stillwater Road reported that someone broke into his car while it was parked outside his home and removed a cassette player, cassette tapes, credit cards and a radar detector. Police said the property was valued at more than $700.

THEFT: Westminster -- Police said the owner of a business in the 600 block of Park Ave. reported the theft of a 4,000-watt gas generator. Police said the generator was valued at $3,000.

Harford County

BURGLARY: Bel Air -- Police reported that someone removed an electronic balance scale from the county's Material Testing Laboratory in the 2200 block of Ady Road. Police said the scale is valued at more than $1,500.

THEFT: Bel Air -- A resident of the 300 block of Sandown Park Court reported that someone broke into his garage and removed a professional-style rug shampoo unit. Police said the property was valued at $500.

VANDALISM: Fallston -- Police reported that someone broke the windows of five cars parked at the Fallston branch of the county's public library. Police said no property was reported missing from inside the vehicles and that the damage was estimated at more than $1,400.

Howard County

ARRESTS: Laurel -- Police arrested four Laurel residents, two of them juveniles, and charged them with breaking into the Bottom of the Bay Seafood restaurant in the 9500 block of North Laurel Road and stealing cash, food and liquor, all valued at $600. Police said that when officers spotted four people running from behind the restaurant over the weekend, they went to the rear and found cardboard boxes containing $150 in cash and nearly $500 worth of food, liquor and cigarettes. Police said the restaurant had been entered through the roof. Later, police arrested Steven R. White and Larry E. Smith, both 18 and both of Laurel, and two Laurel juveniles. The addresses of the adults were not immediately available. Police said the juveniles were released in the custody of their parents and that White was released after posting bail. Police said Smith remains in the county detention center in lieu of $6,000 bail.
