Special session

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

The 1991 Maryland General Assembly session ended last night, but Gov. William Donald Schaefer has indicated that he might veto bills in retaliation for the rough treatment some of his initiatives received this year in the legislature. Lawmakers say that if he uses his veto power they will call themselves into an unprecedented special session as early as next month to try to override the vetoes.

Of 442 Evening Sun readers and other callers to SUNDIAL yesterday, 323, or 73 percent, think that a special session is a good idea, and 119, or 26 percent, oppose a special session.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
