ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Northeastern District -- Police said a man was being held today in lieu of $150,000 bond after he was charged with attempting to murder a police officer during a foot chase over the weekend. Police said Officer Kenneth Lucas, 42, was checking the ownership of a motorcycle in the 2500 block of Sinclair Lane Friday night when a man who was standing next to the vehicle ran off. Police said the vehicle's ignition had been "popped" and that the man told Lucas it was out of gas. During the chase, Lucas pursued the man behind a gas station at Belair Road and North Avenue, where the man attacked the officer. Lucas fought off the man and continued chasing him to the 2300 block of Sinclair Lane, where the man attacked the officer again near the wall of a building. During that scuffle, the man got possession of Lucas' .38-caliber service revolver and pressed the gun to the officer's chest and stomach, cocking the hammer both times. Lucas regained control of his weapon. With the help of Officer Michael Pratt, one of several officers who joined the chase, Lucas subdued the man and arrested him. Police said Lucas was taken to Union Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor lacerations and exhaustion. Charged with attempted murder, assaulting a police officer, robbery, using a handgun in the commission of a felony, illegal possession of a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and theft of a motor vehicle was Lamont Johnson, 21, a furniture mover, of the 300 block of E. 27th St. Police said Johnson also was wanted on a warrant issued in Baltimore County.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Police reported four armed men entered the Downtown Locker Room, a sporting goods store in the 100 block of N. Calvert St., over the weekend and escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash after tying up three employees. Police said the men, all with handguns, entered the store about 11 a.m. Saturday and announced a holdup. Police said that before the robbers fled they tied up the manager and two other employees and left them lying on the floor.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A deliveryman for Domino's Pizza in the 6300 block of Sherwood Ave. reported he was in the 5700 block of Loch Raven Blvd. over the weekend when he was accosted by a man with a handgun who robbed him of $50. Police said the deliveryman, whose name was not available, was returning to his car after making a delivery late Saturday night when a gunman approached and ordered him to the ground at gunpoint. After taking the money, the gunman fled.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Calvin Jenkins, of the 5800 block of Judith Way, reported that a woman he knows entered the bedroom of his home over the weekend and removed jewelry valued at more than $2,000. Police said Jenkins was expected to seek a warrant for the woman's arrest.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Melody Griffin, of the 1500 block of Kennewick Road, reported that during an incident at her home over the weekend a man she knows struck her with his fists. Police said Griffin sustained injuries to an eye.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 2700 block of Fenwick Ave. reported that someone broke into her home through a rear window and removed a TV and food from the refrigerator. Police said the property was valued at more than $200.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Willie Russell, an out-of-town resident, told police that over the weekend he was in the 6000 block of Moravia Park Drive, where he was attacked by a woman who struck him with a beer bottle. Police said Russell received a bloody nose and minor head injuries and that the woman was being sought.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Archa Pushia, of the 6100 block of Northwood Drive, told police she was walking in the 400 block of E. 32nd St. yesterday when a man approached her from behind and stole her purse. Police said the man escaped with cash and property valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 800 block of Druid Park Lake Drive reported that someone broke into his apartment through a rear window and removed a 19-inch TV, valued at $200.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Barbara Gardner, of the 4900 block of Old Court Road in Baltimore County, reported she was in the 1700 block of N. Carey St. Saturday evening when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her purse. Police said a struggle ensued and that the man fled with the purse after its strap broke. Police said the purse contained more than $100.

SHOOTING: Western District -- Anthony Brown, of the 3400 block of Woodland Ave., reported he was in the 500 block of Bloom St. late Saturday evening when he was accosted by two men, one with a handgun. Fearing for his life, police said, Brown turned and ran. Police said the gunman fired several shots and that Brown was hit once in the left hand. Police said Brown was taken by ambulance to Bon Secours Hospital, where he was treated and released.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke into Johng's Food Market in the 2200 block of Pennsylvania Ave. and removed nearly $170 in cash and 180 packs of assorted brands of cigarettes. Police said entry was gained by knocking a hole in a side wall. Police said the break-in occurred between Saturday night and yesterday morning.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Sharon Hawkins, of the 1100 block of Clendenin St., reported she was in the 1800 block of N. Fulton Ave. early yesterday when she was attacked by two men who shoved her into an alley. Police said the men then struck Hawkins with their fists and robbed her of $50 and a gold chain. Police said that Hawkins was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

RAPE: Western District -- Police were seeking a man in connection with the rape Saturday night of a woman inside an abandoned house in the 1800 block of Kavanagh St. Police said that about 10 p.m. Saturday, the woman was forced into the house by a man who threatened her with a knife. Police said the man kept the woman in the house for several hours, raping her several times before allowing her to leave yesterday morning. Police said the victim was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries and released.

SHOOTING: Southwestern District -- Police reported that Andrew Slatter, of the 8700 block of Philadelphia Road in Baltimore County, was shot during an incident early yesterday on Parkton Street. Police said Slatter was attempting to purchase some items from a man about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 4300 block of Parkton St. when the other man pulled out a handgun and shot him. Police said Slatter was taken to a hospital for treatment.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 3100 block of Wilkens Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through an unlocked window over the weekend and removed property valued at $800.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 5000 block of Dickey Hill Road over the weekend and removed property valued at $300. Police said entry was gained by forcing a bedroom window and that the break-in occurred between 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. yesterday.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Sean Myles, of the 3700 block of Yolando Road, reported he was in the 3700 block of Greenmount Ave. yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who chased him down the street and caught up to him when he fell. Police said while the gunman placed the weapon to Myles' head, his accomplice robbed him of cash and jewelry, all valued at nearly $900.

Baltimore County

ARREST: Garrison District -- Police arrested a man early today when a check on the van he was driving revealed he was wanted by Delaware police for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Police said the arrest came after an unusual incident involving a lost 11-year-old Dundalk boy. Police said the boy and the man were fishing about 2:30 a.m. today at a pond off Bonita Avenue in Worthington Valley when the child's fishing rod broke. Police said when the boy returned to the man's van to get another rod, the child became lost in the woods and wandered around until found by a passing motorist, who took him to the Cockeysville police station. When Garrison District police arrived at the pond and found the child's fishing partner, they checked out the van and learned that a warrant had been issued by Delaware for the man's arrest. Police said the man was a neighbor of the child, who was returned to his home. Police said the man was being held for Delaware police and that his name was not immediately available.

ARRESTS: Cockeysville District -- Police arrested two teen-age Glen Arm boys and charged them as juveniles with breaking into a garage in the 100 block of Glenmoore Ave. last month and stealing a 1988 Honda motorcycle. Police said Officer Denise Brady investigated the burglary and theft and arrested the two youths over the weekend. Police said the burglary occurred March 21 and that the youths were released in the custody of their parents pending action by juvenile authorities.

Anne Arundel County

ARREST: Glen Burnie -- An undercover policeman detailed to Friendship Park, the scene of numerous complaints of lewd behavior by men, arrested a 36-year-old Pasadena man and charged him with soliciting for the purpose of lewdness. Police said the officer was walking in a section of woods inside the park when he was allegedly approached by a man who asked the officer to participate in a sexual act. The officer identified himself and immediately arrested the man. Police said bail information on Peter Martin Halstad was not immediately available.

ROBBERY/ARREST: Severn -- Police arrested a man and charged him with the armed robbery of a High's dairy store in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road Sunday night. Police said a man with a handgun entered the store shortly before 10 p.m. and ordered an employee to give him the contents of the cash register. Police said the employee complied, giving the gunman an undisclosed sum of cash. Police said the robber escaped in a white pickup truck that had a washing machine in the rear bed. Later, Officer T. Wilson stopped a white pickup truck carrying a washing machine and arrested the driver. Police said Marvin Lee Shipley, 27, who lives in the 1700 block of Severn Road, Severn, was charged with armed robbery and using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

MOTHER CHARGED: Pioneer City -- Police have charged a woman with leaving her children unattended after they started a fire that caused extensive damage to their home. Police said while the children, two boys, 3 and 4, were left alone they started a fire in their home in the 1700 block of Richfield Drive with a cigarette lighter. Police said a neighbor saw smoke coming from the house and rescued the children. Police said that by the time the fire department arrived, most of the house was burning. Police said the mother, Michele Williams, was released on her own recognizance.

Carroll County

THEFT: Sykesville -- Carl Jesse Eyler, of the 4900 block of Old Washington Road, reported that someone stole his 1986 all-terrain vehicle between April 3 and April 6 while it was parked on his property. Eyler told police the vehicle was valued at $600.
