In spring, a young man's thoughts turn to love. Yeah, yeah.
For those of us in the thirty-something crowd, this glorious season gives rise to frightful thoughts of things to come. Cellulite dimpled thighs hanging out of swimsuits. Bellies draped over belts. What a wonderful sight!
All of these warm and wonderful thoughts come to mind while composing this week's column. Every item seems to have food mentioned. Maybe the hunger pangs are getting to me since I've re-joined the calorie-cutting crowd for the umpteenth time.
Visions of food are invading my dreams. I see and smell plates of steamed shrimp, crab cakes, spaghetti with meat balls, French toast, sausage, barbecue pork and ranch fries, all cooked by an unseen hand, placed on a table just waiting for little old me.
Old? Well, that's debatable. Little? Nobody would believe.

St. Jane Frances Home School Association invites you to attend its annual fashion show and dinner 6:30 p.m. April 19 in the school hall.
"A Splash of Spring" will feature dresses and sportswear for late spring and summer. Fashions, modeled by school faculty and staff members, are being provided by Casual Corner and Amy Stout.
A cash bar will open at 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m., followed by the fashion show at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15 per person and include a dinner menu of stuffed chicken breast, greenbeans, mashed potatoes, fruit cup, salad, cake, coffee and tea.

Remember the days of 30-cents-a-gallon gasoline, three deuces, four on the floor, big blocks, 4.11 rears and side pipes?
Envision your favorite '60s muscle car. Now shrink it to one-twenty-fifth scale and you'll have an idea of what spectators at the Model Car Show and Swap Meet will see tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department on Solley Road.
The Maryland Automotive Modelers Association, an avid group of hobbyists from Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania, is sponsoring the event.
"We'll have several late make American car models and drag racing models on display," said Tim Powers, local MAMA member. "But our theme for Saturday's show is the muscle car of the '60s," he explained.
The swap meet will feature rare and old kits, new kits at a discount, old car magazines and magazines on car modeling. Hobbyists can also purchase a full line of detailing materials from vendors.
Admission is $2 for adults. Children younger than 10 are free.

How? Let the Ladies Guild of Magothy Chelsea Community Lutheran Church do it for you.
The guild will be cooking up a storm at the church from 7 to 11 a.m. Third and Beach streets in Chelsea Beach.
The menu can't be beat: sausage, eggs, French toast, homemade biscuits, creamed chipped beef, coffee, tea, juice and fruit.
Tickets are $3.75 for adults, $2 for children, ages 5 to 12. Those younger than 5 eat free.

Those happy travelers at the Chesapeake Women's Club will be on the road again and you can join them.
The club is going on a bus trip to Vanity Fair in Reading, Pa., with a side trip to outlets in Lancaster April 24.

Tomorrow, an indoor flea market, filled with shopping treasures, will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 346 is sponsoring its annual spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 13 at Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children younger than 12, and tykes younger than 2 eat free. Tickets are available in advance or can be purchased at the door.
The dinner will include all-you-can-eat spaghetti, bread, a full salad bar, dessert and beverages. Carryouts are available at no additional charge.
