Most callers to The Evening Sun yesterday think the recession will end by the fall.
The signs economists use to forecast the future have been encouraging lately. More new houses are being built, employment is growing, and consumer confidence is increasing. Many economists think that the recession will end soon, but they are not certain when.
We asked you to call SUNDAIL and tell us when you thing the recession will end. Will it be summer, fall, winter or sometime after that?
Of the 248 callers, 94, or 38 percent, said they think the recession will end by fall. Another 69, or 28 percent, said it would end by summer. Only 24 callers, or 10 percent, believe the recession will last until winter. But 61 callers, or 24 percent, think the recession won't end until after next winter.
"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as a scientific public opinion poll would be.
