ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Western District -- Police arrested an 18-year-old in an assault on Officer Chris Malecki during a drug arrest. They said Malecki was among several officers attempting to arrest a drug suspect in the 1800 block of Edmondson Ave. when the officer was bitten on the left hand. Malecki was treated at the University of Maryland Medical Center and released. In addition to drug charges, police said, the suspect, Kevin Forrest, of the 2100 block of Woodlawn Drive in Baltimore County, also was charged with assaulting a police officer. Forrest was being held at the station lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
ARSON: Central District -- Police today continued to search for a man who entered the lobby of the White Rice Inn, in the 300 block of Park Ave., poured a flammable liquid onto the rug, threw down a lighted match and fled as flames erupted. They said the fire was quickly extinguished by restaurant employees and firefighters. The fire was confined to the lobby and caused an estimated $200 in damage, police said. No injuries were reported. When last seen, the suspect was wearing a dark cap, red shirt, dark pants and a white jacket.
SHOOTING: Northern District -- Police were seeking a man known as "Skitch" in the shooting of Melvin Moore, 39, of the 2400 block of Loyola Northway. Moore, who was shot in the upper left leg near his home, was listed in good condition at Sinai Hospital.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone forced a rear door to get into a dwelling in the 2800 block of Rayner Ave. and removed a TV valued at $100.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Alexander Williams, of the 1700 block of Gorsuch Ave., told police he was attacked in the 2200 block of Etting St. by a man who cut him on the head, hands and ears with a knife. Police said Williams was taken to a hospital for treatment and was released. They said a 43-year-old acquaintance of Williams was being sought in the attack.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Derrick Franklin, of the 3000 block of Frisby St., reported he was in the 2800 block of Clifton Ave. when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of more than $100 in cash and escaped on foot. Police said the gunman placed the weapon to Franklin's head and threatened to shoot him if he didn't cooperate.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Officials of St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center in the 300 block of E. 25th St. reported that someone broke into a dwelling the firm owns in the 200 block of N. Mount St. through a second-floor window and removed lumber valued at $30.
THEFT: Western District -- Police reported that someone entered a house in the 2400 block of W. Baltimore St. and removed roofing material and equipment owned by a renovation company and valued at more than $3,200.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police were seeking an unarmed man who entered the New Deal Laundrymart in the 1700 block of Laurens St. and forced an employee to give up an undetermined amount of money she carried in her apron.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Claude Miller, of the 1100 block of N. Monroe St., reported he was in the 1000 block of N. Monroe St. when he was accosted by a woman who forced him to give up more than $100.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police responding to a burglary at a house in the 2300 block of Reisterstown Road entered and arrested a 25-year-old man. They said the suspect, a resident of the 2300 block of W. North Ave., is acquainted with the occupant of the house. Police said no property was removed and that the suspect was being held at the station pending charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Frank Curry, of the 4300 block of Parkton St., reported he was in the 2600 block of Frederick Ave. when a man with a handgun robbed him of his keys.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- A resident of the 4700 block of Amberley Ave. reported that someone broke into her home through a window and removed property valued at more than $2,000.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that property valued at $1,000 was removed from a dwelling in the 4300 block of Connecticut Ave. after someone got in through a window.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Ernest Baker, of the 2500 block of Emerson St., reported that upon answering a knock at his door, he was assaulted by two men who forced their way into his home. Police said Baker was grabbed around the neck and robbed of an undetermined sum of money. They said he was not seriously injured.
ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Robin Troutman, of the 2000 block of Ramsay St., told police she was in the 2200 block of Ashton St. when a man with a knife knocked her down and robbed her of more than $100.
ROBBERY/ARREST: Southern District -- Police arrested a man they believe robbed Rebecca MacGregor, of the 1000 block of Stoll Place, of her keys during an incident in the 900 block of Dantrey Court. Police said the man was being held at the station prior to charges being placed and his appearance at a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY: Southern District -- Employees of Four M's Contracting Inc. in the 1400 block of Light St. reported that someone broke into the storage area and removed tools valued at nearly $2,700.
BURGLARY: Southern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 1500 block of Popland St. and removed property valued at nearly $400, including a VCR and several pieces of jewelry.
BURGLARY: Southern District -- Police said a VCR and a jacket, valued at nearly $570, were removed from a dwelling in the 3700 block of Pascal Ave. after someone got in through a rear door.
BURGLARY: Southern District -- Police said jewelry valued at $500 was removed from a bedroom of a dwelling in the 1400 block of S. Charles St. after someone entered through an unlocked window.
RAPE: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the Eastern District on charges that he raped his 9-year-old niece at the girl's home after he gave her money. Police said the girl reported the attack to her parents, who called police. Police said the girl was taken to a hospital for treatment and released. They withheld the man's name to protect the identity of the victim.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police said someone climbed up to an unlocked second-floor window, entered a dwelling in the 4200 block of Mary Ave. Monday evening and removed two TVs, a VCR, a video camera and a briefcase, all valued at more than $2,000.
BURGLARY TRY: Northeastern District -- Police said a resident of the 2800 block of Harford Road was awakened by a noise in her home yesterday and frightened off a man who had broken in through the kitchen door. They said nothing appeared to be missing from the house.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 2900 block of Harford Road reported that a VCR, valued at more than $200, was removed from the living room while she was away.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Wayne Rexroth, of Jarrettsville in Harford County, said someone stole his 1963 14-foot Starcraft boat, of unknown value, while it was parked on a trailer at a parking lot in the 5000 block of Harford Road. They said the theft occurred over the weekend.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Denise Buckman, of the 5600 block of Fair Oaks Ave., said someone entered the front porch of her home and removed three pieces of furniture valued at $500.
ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a shoplifting yesterday at the K mart in the 5100 block of Sinclair Lane arrested a man on charges of attempting to leave the store without paying for property valued at more than $40. They said Angelo Wilson, of the 5000 block of Conant Way, was being held at the Eastern District lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4400 block of Bowleys Lane reported that somone broke into his apartment through a bedroom window yesterday and removed a stereo receiving and recording system valued at $900.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $10,000 was removed from a dwelling in the 2000 block of E. Belvedere Ave. after someone got in by removing a section of glass from a kitchen door.
BURGLARY/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Following a brief chase, police arrested a teen-ager and charged him as a juvenile with entering the kitchen of the Holiday Inn in the 6500 block of Frankford Ave. yesterday and removing food products valued at $83. They said the youth was released in the custody of his parents.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Joppa -- Eric Blunt, of the 4300 block of Winterode Way in Fullerton, reported that while he was in the Taco Bell restaurant in the 2300 block of E. Joppa Road last night, he became involved in an argument with several other males. On the parking lot, Blunt was attempting to drive away when one of the men blocked his car with another vehicle. Blunt told police that one of the men attempted to break the windows of his car with a baseball bat, but that he pulled away. Blunt said, however, that one of his car's doors was damaged when the man carrying the bat struck the side of the car. Police said Blunt was expected to seek a warrant for the arrest of the man who damaged his car.
RAPE: Woodlawn District -- Police today were seeking a man who attacked a woman outside her home in the Kings Park Estates development and raped her. Police said the 33-year-old victim was removing several pieces of property from her car shortly before 2 a.m. today when she dropped a package on the ground. Police said that when the woman bent over to pick it up, a man wearing a brown bomber-type jacket attacked her, pushed her onto the front seat of his car and raped her. After reporting the assault to police, she was taken to the rape crisis center at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center for treatment and released.

STABBING: Gambrills -- Police said a 24-year-old Annapolis man was admitted to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly with serious stab wounds in his left arm that he suffered when he attacked a woman yesterday inside a tanning salon in the 2200 block of Johns Hopkins Road. Police said Michelle MacIntyre, 23, was in a tanning booth at Sun Seekers Tanning Salon about 6:20 p.m. when a man with a knife broke into the booth. Police said he began stabbing and slashing MacIntyre, who fought back before falling to the floor. They said the man fled the salon, followed by two male employees who pointed him out to two police officers driving by. The officers chased him and caught him near the Crofton Go-Cart race track on Md. 3. Police said the man had a severe laceration of the left forearm and had lost a quantity of blood. At the hospital, Raymond M. Hoggard, of the 1300 block of Washington Drive, was listed in fair condition. Police said multiple assault and deadly weapon charges were expected to be placed against him. Police said MacIntyre was taken to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where she was listed today in critical condition. They said it was not immediately clear if MacIntyre knew her attacker.
