ROBBERY/ARREST: Northern District -- Police yesterday arrested a man in a robbery and also charged him with stealing the car used in the getaway. Police said the robbery victim, James Hicks, of the 3200 block of N. Calvert St., was getting out of his car in the 3300 block of St.Paul St. shortly before 2 a.m. yesterday when a man with a handgun confronted him and forced him back into the car. Police said the gunman then robbed Hicks of his wallet containing nearly $50, credit cards, other items and a wristwatch. Police said the gunman then drove off in a car that had been reported stolen earlier in a nearby county. Later, Northwestern District police stopped the car in the 2900 block of Reisterstown Road and arrested the driver. Charged with armed robbery, assault, auto theft and other charges was Kevin Pickett, 38, of the 8000 block of Lakecrest Drive in Greenbelt. Police said Pickett, who also uses the name Ismael K-Bin, was being held at the district lockup pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 1300 block of N. Calhoun St. reported that someone broke a rear window at her home and ransacked several rooms. It was not immediately known if anything was stolen.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported two men robbed the Penn North Foods company in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. of more than $1,000 early Sunday. Police said two men apparently hid inside the store until closing time, then accosted an employee at gunpoint, forced him into an office and made him hand over the money.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Gary Haskins, of the 1900 block of N. Pulaski St., reported he was in the 1600 block of W. Lanvale St. when two men in their late teens got out of a car, demanded his money and robbed him of nearly $100. The robbers fled in the car.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Officials of the Prayer Tower Church in the 1300 block of W. North Ave. reported that someone broke into the building over the weekend and stole a fan and a set of cymbals, all valued at more than $100.
BURGLARY: Western District -- A resident of the 2500 block of Eutaw Place reported that someone forced open a door into her apartment and stole a VCR valued at more than $200.
ASSAULT: Western District -- Pauline Samuel, of the 1300 block of Riggs Ave., reported that a male acquaintance with a knife threatened her during a dispute at her home. The man was arrested and was being held at the station.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Police today were seeking a male youth who robbed two people in the 2100 block of W. Franklin St. Police said Dominic and Minnie Brown, both of the 3400 block of Reisterstown Road, were accosted by a teen-ager with a handgun. He robbed Dominic Brown of $2 and robbed the woman of $22.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of Blockbuster Video in the 5500 block of Harford Road reported a man ran out with a VCR tape valued at nearly $25.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Martin Fisher, 47, of the 7500 block of Berkshire Road, reported that someone broke a window in his parked van in the 3000 block of Fleetwood Ave. and stole music equipment valued at nearly $2,000.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Elmora Ave. reported that someone broke a basement window in his home and stole jewelry and several containers of liquor, all valued at more than $500.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Davis George, 57, of the 1700 block of E. 28th St., reported someone entered the back yard of his home between Sunday and yesterday and stole an 18-speed bicycle valued at $200.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Robert Meeks, 29, of the first block of Edelweiss Way in Parkton reported that someone broke into his parked car in the 900 block of Armistead Way and stole a radar detector valued at $100.
ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Lashona Rahman, 21, of the 2000 block of Robb St., reported she was walking across a school playground in the 1300 block of Gorsuch Ave. when a man with a handgun robbed her of her purse containing cash and other property, all valued at $60.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Anita Jackson, of the 5400 block of Cedonia Ave., reported that someone entered the back yard of a home in the 5500 block of Silverbell Road and stole property valued at nearly $800.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3600 block of the Alameda reported that someone broke into his garage and removed property valued at nearly $200.
THEFT: Northeastern District -- Charlotte Rinaldi, of the 14800 block of Manor Road in Baltimore County, reported that someone broke into her parked car on a lot in the 2400 block of Belair Road and stole property valued at more than $150.
BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that an intruder in a home in the 3300 block of Elmora Ave. ran off empty-handed when the occupant entered a room and surprised him.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police reported that five men, one with a handgun, entered Shoe City in the 5600 block of the Alameda shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday and forced an employee to give them the contents of the cash register, amounting to more than $100.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4300 block of Falls Road reported that someone broke into his home while it was being renovated and stole a 19-inch TV set valued at $300. Two men seen leaving the dwelling were being sought.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- Sherrie Holland, of the 500 block of Sheridan Ave., reported that she was walking in the 700 block of Sheridan Ave. when a man struck her from behind with his fist and stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $200.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police were seeking the person who broke in through the front door of a dwelling in the 800 block of Exeter Hall Ave. yesterday and stole two VCRs and a TV, all valued at nearly $600.
ROBBERY TRY: Northern District -- Police reported that a man attempted to steal money from a cash register at the AmVets store in the 5000 block of York Road last evening but was thwarted when an employee struggled with him. Police said the employee managed to shut the register during the scuffle. After several minutes, the would-be robber failed to overcome the employee or open the cash register and fled.
THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a shoplifting at the J.J. Newbury store in the 6000 block of Moravia Park Drive last evening arrested Darryl Williams, 24, of the 6000 block of Amberwood Road, and charged him with the theft of nearly $19 worth of toothpaste.

ROBBERY TRY: Essex District -- Police reported an Eastern cab driver was injured last night during an attempted armed robbery near the Chesapeake Park Plaza at Eastern Avenue and Martin Boulevard. Police said George Becker, 42, had picked up two men in the 2200 block of Redthorn Road shortly after 7 p.m. and was driving them to another location when one of the fares ordered him to stop near the plaza. There, one of the men pulled out a knife and ordered Becker to give up his money. Becker struggled with the armed man and was cut three times on the hands. Police said the armed man and his accomplice fled the cab without getting any money. Police said Becker sustained minor lacerations of both hands and refused medical treatment.

BANK ROBBERY: Severna Park -- Police and the FBI today continued their search for a man who robbed the Second National Federal Savings Bank in the 700 block of Ritchie Highway of an undisclosed sum of cash. Police said the robber had requested a loan application from one of several tellers and followed the teller to the manager's office, where he pulled a handgun from his clothing and forced the employees into the vault. There, the employees filled a bag with money and gave it to the gunman, who forced them into a back room. He drove off in a silver or gray car.
Howard County
ARREST: Columbia -- County police yesterday afternoon arrested a 25-year-old Columbia resident and charged him with a series of offenses stemming from the abduction of an 11-year-old boy who was fishing alone at a pond in the Village of Long Reach area. Police said the assailant accosted the boy about 2 p.m. and forced him into a nearby car at knifepoint. Police said the victim was driven to an apartment on High Tor Hill, where he was sexually assaulted. The child managed to flee the apartment and ran to the home of a friend, where he called police. About an hour later, Michael David Blum, of the 5700 block of High Tor Hill, surrendered to police. He was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and a first-degree sexual assault and was being held without bail. The victim was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment of bruises and abrasions.
Harford County
ROBBERY: Joppa -- Police reported that a man with a handgun entered the Gunpowder Cove Mobil service station in the 500 block of Joppa Farm Road and robbed the attendant of an undisclosed sum of cash. Police said the robber put the pistol muzzle against the victim's back and took the money from his shirt pocket.
BURGLARY: Abingdon -- A resident of the 100 block of Waldon Road reported that someone broke into his home and stole $600 worth of jewelry from the bedroom. Later, police arrested a 14-year-old Abingdon boy and charged him as a juvenile.
THEFT: Bel Air -- Police reported that someone entered a yard in the 1400 block of Landis Circle and stole a Labrador retriever puppy valued at $500.
THEFT: Bel Air -- A resident of the 2300 block of Shucks Road reported that someone entered his outdoor storage shed and stole more than $500 worth of geese decoys.
