Egg hunt, drag racing planned for Easter

What do Easter eggs and drag racing have in common? They both will be featured at Mason-Dixon today. The Washington County track hosts both, with the racers having a full program of racing in all classes.

Next Sunday, NHRA Championship drag racing returns with a full program. Points earned now will establish who is favored for the season's title.

On March 17 Roger Lewis of Bunker Hill, W.V., took the Super Pro title at Mason-Dixon with his '75 Vega. Dave Churchey of Boonsboro won in Heavy class while Terry Smith of New Oxford, Pa., took the Cycle title.

Lewis lost the Super-Pro title to Gary Rice the following week as Rice's '80 Arrow topped 143.69 miles per hour. Hagertown's Terry Everly won Heavy in his '73 Nova. Jerry Baugman of Fayetteville, Pa., took the Cycle trophy.

75-80 Dragway is hosting an Easter Special featuring a special Powder Puff race. Regular class racing will be mixed with the event for women drivers only.

Next Sunday 75-80 hosts the first Top Dog race of the 91 season. In addition there will be the first 1991 Swap Meet.

Saturday, the Super Stock Late Models will be making their first area appearance at Lincoln Speedway.
