SARASOTA, Fla. -- One of baseball's humorous traditions is for a team to occasionally feign indifference when a teammate hits a home run. It usually happens to someone not noted for power, or when a newcomer connects for the first time.

But when Glenn Davis hit his first home run of the spring yesterday, it was manager Frank Robinson who was the victim of a prankish snub. Robinson was first out of the dugout to shake Davis' hand, but the slugging first baseman trotted into the dugout as though he didn't notice, leaving the manager to hold hands with the air.

Then, after shaking the hands of a few teammates, Davis quickly spun on his heels and went back to accept Robinson's congratulations.
