A Mass of Christian burial for Lawrence Offutt McCormick, a retired Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. supervisor, will be at 11 a.m. today at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Easton, with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at New Cathedral Cemetery, 4300 Old Frederick Road, in Baltimore.

Mr. McCormick, a resident of Jack's Point in Oxford, died Friday of pneumonia at Easton Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

A native of Baltimore, Mr. McCormick graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 1927 with a degree in electrical engineering. He joined BG&E; and worked for the utility for 42 years. He retired in 1975 as a supervisor of testing and engineering.

He was a past vice-chairman of the Baltimore-Washington section of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers and belonged to the Engineers Club of Baltimore.

After retiring, he moved to Oxford, where he belonged to the Oxford Museum and the Talbot County chapter of the Izaak Walton League.

Mr. McCormick is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Louise Kemp; two daughters, Jane D. Chambers of Love Point and Louise K. Cornetta of Gloucester, Mass.; a son, Lawrence O. McCormick Jr. of Cambridge; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
