Coach: Boo Smith, 12th season.

Assistant: Tom Polk.

Last year's record: 11-5, MSA BB Conference champs.

Starters lost: 5.

Top returnees: Brian Turk, Jr., A; Tim Ferriter, jr., A; Zack Thornton, Sr., M; Brian Yeager, sr., M; Brian O'Mailey, sr., D; Pete Tapley, sr., D; Dave Stever, jr., D; Stash Rote, sr., G; Chris Marshall, sr., A; Greg Rogers, sr., A.

Newcomers: Jeff Raymond, so.,M; Bill Ashman, jr., M; Baird Babb, sr., M.

Coach's outlook: We have some greenness, but last year we only had one returning player and we won the championship. But in our early scrimmages, we're lookingfor where the goals are going to come from. Our attack is good, but our midfield is having trouble getting the ball to them.

Harford County Sun's outlook: Most of the early midfield problems have arisen because Thornton is sidelined with a sprained ankle. Once he returns,Smith can concentrate on bolstering the attack. The Patriots have some big shoes to fill after the graduation of Chris Driggs (36 goals),last year's C. Markland Kelly Award winner. Turk, the only starter back on attack, will be joined by Ferriter while Marshall and Rogers battle for the third spot. The Patriots look strong on defense with all three starters back while Rote is solid in the goal. Friends and McDonogh (which beat the Patriots twice last year before falling in thetitle game) should challenge the Patriots for the conference championship. If the attack can come along, expect to see the Patriots fighting to repeat at the end of the season.
