Head coach: Tom Taylor (first year)

Assistants: Jake Jacobs and Walt Robuck

1990 record: Andover was 4-8; Brooklyn Park did not field a team.

Returnees: Seniors, Stephanie Meyer (att), Stephanie Dougherty (mid), Christie Griffith (def), Thomasina McCoy (def) and Lisa Betz (g)

Newcomers: Sophomore, Becky Webb (mid); freshman, Karen Wick (mid)

Coach's outlook: "Everyone is asking whether we can make the jump into the 4A/3A leagues, but we're actually playing everyone that weplayed before. I don't expect to overthrow anyone in one year. Brooklyn Park didn't have a girls lacrosse program, so (that) didn't help us like it helped the other sports."

Anne Arundel County Sun's outlook: Although he is in his first season at North County, Taylor was the head girls lacrosse coach at Andover for the previous four years and is familiar with all of the team's current players -- which puts him slightly ahead of schedule. The team's record from a year ago easily could have been 7-5 had three overtime losses gone their way. Although eight starters have graduated -- including four defensemen -- Meyer, the top returning scorer, will be the target player, and Dougherty, Griffith and McCoy represent a solid foundation. Returning starter Betz is in the goal. Taylor has projected that newcomers Webb and Wick, although underclassmen, are improving and likely will start in tonight's game against Northeast. Taylor likes to build his teams from the defense forward and looks for his Knights to finish .500 or slightly better.
