SHOULD LOBBYISTS BE LIMITED IN THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS?

THE BALTIMORE SUN

John Routh, 45, of Linthicum, barber in Oakland Mills Village Center

That's tough to say. If a corporation is giving a candidate money, it seems like they'll expect a political favor. Politicians are being swayed -- it's almost human nature. I think (the proposed) $4,000 limit would be enough per PAC (political action committee). Surely, there are some types of political favors, large or small, even within legal bounds. Maybe not immediately, but at least somewhere down the line. If I was a politician, and they were giving me money, I would almost want to do that -- give them some kind of favor -- if it's legal. And what's illegal is another kind of story.
