'You will not be forgotten'

THE RANDAZZO and Dreyfus families would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many people of Maryland -- friends and strangers alike -- who cared enough to give their time and support in our period of grief. Your letters, cards and calls of sympathy, food, flowers and contributions to the Ronald Randazzo scholarship fund are greatly appreciated. There were so many people who contacted us, some without leaving their names or addresses, that we felt this letter would give us the opportunity to thank each and every well-wisher in a way you'd be sure to see.

We would like to send a special "thank you" to all members of the armed forces, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, fire departments, county, state and harbor police who came to express their sorrow, and who provided for an honorable viewing, funeral and procession to the cemetery. An extra special "thank you" to the Anne Arundel County police officers who formed a 10-car tribute to Ronald; that will never be forgotten.

Finally, thank you to the news media for the way you covered Ronald's death and burial. All stories were beautifully written and reported as you maintained your distance and respected our wishes.

It is comforting to know there are still people in this world who care enough about others to come together to help those who are suffering.

You won't be forgotten. Thank you again, and pray for lasting peace.

Leona Randazzo

Sandi Dreyfus

Sgt. Ronald Randazzo was killed Feb. 20 in the Persian Gulf war.
