ARRESTS: Western District -- Police arrested three people early Saturday inside the station when they became involved in an altercation with two officers after the arrest of a relative on a minor charge. Police said Garland Cason, 23, of the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Ave., was arrested Saturday evening for failing to obey a lawful order by a policeman. Shortly before 10 p.m., three of Cason's relatives arrived at the station at Riggs Avenue and Mount Street to protest the arrest. Police said the three people became disorderly and attacked Officer Steven Sturm with his own flashlight when he asked them to leave. They also assaulted Officer James Rogers. Police said the incident ended when Sturm drew his revolver. Police said Sturm was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he received several stitches to close a cut. Police said Robert Cason, 40, of the 800 block of Brooks Lane; and Sean Cason and Angel Anderson, both 22 and of the 1800 block of W. North Ave., were charged with assault with intent to murder and related offenses. Police said Robert and Sean Cason were held over the weekend in lieu of $5,000 bond each and that Anderson was released on her own recognizance. Garland Cason later appeared before a District Court commissioner, who released him on his own recognizance.

STABBING: Eastern District -- Police have charged a City Jail inmate with stabbing another inmate during a fight Friday evening. Police said John Wilson, 28, who is being held at the jail while awaiting trial on narcotics charges, was charged with stabbing Eric Black, 27, with a homemade knife in a hall outside the dining room. Police said Black was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was treated for multiple stab wounds and was listed today in good condition. Police said Black was in jail awaiting trial on three counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and two deadly weapon violations. Police said the fight was broken up by guards who found the knife on the hallway floor. Police said no other inmates were involved in the stabbing and that order was immediately restored by jail personnel. Police said they knew no motive for the fight.

POLICE CAR THEFT: Southeastern District -- Police reported that while an officer was investigating an altercation inside a tavern on Eastern Avenue early Saturday, someone drove off with his radio car. They said Officer Vincent L. Biondo, 32, left the engine of his unattended patrol car running while he responded to an incident in front of an Eastern Avenue tavern. Police said that, after he took care of the situation, someone asked Biondo to investigate a fight at a bar nearby. Biondo

reported later that when he returned to his car, he discovered that someone had driven it away. Biondo used his portable radio to report the theft. About a half-hour later, police patrolling near // the railroad tracks along Ralls Avenue near the Dundalk Marine Terminal found the cruiser. Police said the one of the car's tires was flat and its undercarriage was damaged. It was not immediately known if any police equipment kept in the car was stolen.

VANDALISM: Southwestern District -- Police reported that someone siphoned about 500 gallons of fuel oil from a tank behind a firehouse in the 3100 block of W. North Ave. Saturday afternoon and dumped it into a stream in Leakin Park. Police said firefighters from Engine Company 20 responded to a report of oil floating in a stream in the park off the 1600 block of Franklintown Road and traced the oil back to the fuel tank outside their firehouse. Police said the theft of the oil occurred while the firefighters were responding to a call and that the spill, which was cleaned up, caused little damage to the stream.

ARSON: Northern District -- Police reported that someone set fire to the wooden fire escape of a three-story apartment building in the 5200 block of York Road yesterday afternoon, forcing more than two dozen tenants to flee. No injuries were reported. Police said they have no suspects or motive in the fire, which was started after someone poured a flammable liquid onto the fire escape shortly after 4 p.m. Police said the flames broke out while many of the residents were watching the NCAA basketball tournament on TV. Police said the fire caused extensive damage to the building and that many of the residents lost all their possessions. Police said some of tenants were taken in by friends and relatives, while the Red Cross was finding shelter for others.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Bernard Backmon, of the 1800 block of Maulsby Court, reported that while he was attempting to break up a fight between two youths near his home Saturday night, one of the combatants struck him over the head with a piece of pipe. Police said a teen-age male was arrested and charged as a juvenile with aggravated assault. Police said Backmon sustained a minor head injury and refused medical treatment.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4000 block of Hillen Road reported that someone entered her apartment with a key and removed a TV, VCR and a remote control device for them. Police said the property was valued at more than $2,000.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a burglary at a dwelling in the 1300 block of Sherwood Road arrested a man they believe broke in by forcing a basement door. Police said Officer Steven Kolackovsky entered the dwelling and arrested the suspect without incident. They said the suspect, a 24-year-old resident of the 1200 block of E. Northern Parkway, was being held at the Eastern District pending burglary charges. Police said the man was arrested before he could remove any property from the home.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Paul Aldine, of the 4900 block of Gunther Ave., reported that someone broke a window of his car while it was parked near his home over the weekend and removed an AM-FM stereo radio valued at more than $100.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone forced a basement window and entered a dwelling in the 3500 block of Dudley Ave. and removed property valued at nearly $100.

SHOOTING: Northeastern District -- Michael McCoy, of the 1100 block of Gleneagle Road, reported he was in the 5600 block of Loch Raven Blvd. early yesterday when he was shot in the lower left back. Police said McCoy was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he told officers he was with a woman when someone fired the shot. Police said no arrest has been made.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Linda Williams, of the 2700 block of Virginia Ave., reported she was walking in the 3000 block of Wylie Ave. Saturday night when she was accosted by two men, one with a handgun, who struck her and forced her to give up her money. Police said the gunman and his accomplice escaped with Williams' purse, which contained papers and personal items.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4400 block of Newport Ave. reported that someone broke into her home by opening a ground-level window and removed three ceiling fans, valued at nearly $500.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Gloria Owens, of the 4900 block of Herring Run Drive, reported she was walking in the 5600 block of The Alameda yesterday when a man came up behind her, grabbed her purse and fled. Police said Owens reported the incident to a passing police officer, who chased down a suspect and arrested him. Police said Jonathan Horne, 27, of the 1300 block of Walters Ave., was charged with robbery and was being held at the station lockup in lieu of $1,500 bail.

ARRESTS: Northern District -- Police yesterday arrested four juveniles and charged them with attempting to steal a car that was parked in the 2100 block of Druid Lake Park Drive. Police said the four were arrested before they could flee and each was released in the custody of his parents.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Geraldine Richardson, of the 3800 block of The Alameda, reported that someone entered her house Saturday and removed more than $600 in cash from a jacket pocket. Richardson told police she suspects a relative took the money.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 3500 block of Woodstock Road and removed property valued at more than $600. Police said the break-in occurred yesterday morning and that entry was gained by opening an unlocked rear door.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police today were seeking the person who stole a 26-inch bike parked outside a McDonald's restaurant in the 4600 block of Erdman Ave. yesterday afternoon. Police said the bike, which was not secured, was the property of a 13-year-old resident of the 1000 block of Armistead Way and was valued at $100.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- La'Shawn Wagner, of the 7600 block of Hillendale Road, reported that while her 1989 Ford was parked in the 5800 block of Pulaski Highway someone broke into it and removed cash, jewelry and other items with a total value of nearly $300.

Baltimore County

ARMED ROBBERY: Wilkens District -- Police today were seeking two men in the robbery last night of a pizza carryout in the 900 block of Leeds Ave., Arbutus. Police said two men, one with a rifle, entered Ballestri's Pizza at 9:40 p.m. and announced a holdup. Pam Turner, the 21-year-old manager, told police she was struck in the face with the butt of the rifle before being pushed to the floor and threatened by the gunman, who placed the barrel of the rifle to the back of her head. In the meantime, a second employee, Corey David, 21, also was forced to lie on the floor. While the employees remained prone, both men rifled the cash register, taking about $600.

Anne Arundel County

THEFT: Linthicum -- Police reported that someone removed $500 from a safe at the High's dairy store in the 400 block of N. Camp Meade Road. Police said an employee who reported to work early yesterday opened the safe shortly after her arrival and counted $500 in cash before closing the safe. Later in the day, the same clerk opened the safe and discovered the money was missing. Police said two clerks work at the store and that both have denied taking the money. Police said a search of their cars failed to turn up the money.

ROBBERY: Glen Burnie -- Police today were seeking two men, one with a handgun, who accosted Steven Phillip Sauageaux, 23, of the 6300 block of Centennial Circle, after he parked his car in front of his apartment building. Police said Sauageaux was walking toward his apartment when the men approached and ordered him to give up his money. Police said the men drove off in a Chevrolet Caprice after the victim gave up his wallet containing several credit cards and a small sum of money. Police said the car was seen driving toward Furnace Branch Road.

Carroll County

ESCAPE: Sykesville -- Police said two men assigned to work at the state Division of Correction laundry camp on Buttercup Road escaped last night by climbing over a fence that surrounds the facility. Police said Bradley D. Spitler, 19, who was serving six years for burglary, and William S. Harlow, 20, serving 19 months for theft, were reported missing at the 10 p.m. bed check. Police said the men could have escaped as early as 5:30 p.m. after dinner. Police said an extensive search by state troopers and K-9 units failed to find the men. The search was continuing.
