A 32-year-old man has been charged with the stabbing death of a 53-yeaar-old East Baltimore woman, police said yesterday.

Douglas R. Ross was arrested at his home in the 1300 block of North Luzerne Street Thursday night and charged with first-degree murder, police said.

The body of Gladys Berry was found in her home in the 2600 block of East Oliver Street by her son when he returned home about 6 a.m. Thursday.

Detectives said the victim apparently was stabbed to death as she confronted a burglar who also had broken into her house the day before.
