GREEN TO REPLACE AVERY

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Emily Green, an aide to Annapolis Mayor Alfred A. Hopkins, will assume the duties of Drug Policy Director Eric Avery, who resigned Tuesday.

Green, Hopkins' Civic and Neighborhood Projects Coordinator, acts as a liaison between the mayor's office and community groups. She said her new duties will fit in well with that role.

"A lot of the stuff Eric was doing was supplemented by civic and neighborhood projects," Green said.

Avery resigned effective June 1, citing philosophical differences with Hopkins over the direction of the department. In the wake of Avery's resignation, aldermen have expressed concern that the department may play a smaller role, but Hopkins said the department will continue to operate full-time.
