WMC SHOCKLEY IS SELECTED

Western Maryland College junior guard Debbie Shockley of Rockville, Montgomery County, has been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) women's basketball all-star team as a member of the Southwest Section select squad.

The 5-foot-7 Shockley, a Rockville High Schoolgraduate, topped Western Maryland in scoring and rebounding with averages of 18.4 points and eight rebounds per game.

In addition, Shockley set school single-season records for assists with 101, steals with 129, total field goals attempted with 459, three-point field goals made with 54 and three-pointers attempted with 147. The three-pointers made and attempted also are Western Maryland career records.

Shockley led the MAC-Southern Division in three-pointers made with an average of 2.7 per divisional game, was second in three-point field-goal percentage with a .427 mark and was fifth inscoring at 17.4 points per outing.

Western Maryland finished 11-12 overall, its seventh consecutive season with at least 10 wins, and 4-6 in the MAC-Southwest.
