ASSAULT: Northwestern District -- Herbert McLeod was in stable condition at Sinai Hospital today, where he was being treated for multiple stab wounds suffered in an attack early yesterday, police said. McLeod, who lives in the 4900 block of Palmer Ave., was stabbed during a quarrel with a man in the 5000 block of Park Heights Ave. just before 1 a.m. Police said McLeod apparently does not know the man who attacked him.

ASSAULT: Northwestern District -- Mary Grooms, who lives in the 4800 block of Palmer Ave., was attacked in her home early yesterday by someone she knows, police said. Grooms was hit in the face and several teeth were knocked out during the attack, police said.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- Alum Perry, of the 2000 block of E. North Ave., told police he was walking in the 3000 block of W. Garrison Blvd. just before 1 a.m. yesterday when he was approached by a man who grabbed him, knocked him down and took $86 from him.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police were called to Malcolm X Elementary School, 2810 Shirley Ave., after it was discovered that someone had broken a window and entered the school. However, it had not been determined whether any property is missing.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 43-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in the 4400 block of Craddock Ave., police said. James Wilkins, who lives in the 1200 block of Rossiter Ave., told police he was accosted by three teen-agers who threatened him with a small handgun and took $25 from him late Tuesday.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A 27-year-old woman was robbed of her purse while driving in the 5600 block of The Alameda. According to police, Rebecca Marr, 27, was in her car when a man opened the door, grabbed the purse and punched her in the face. Marr was not seriously hurt in the attack. The value of her purse and its contents was estimated at $105.

ARSONARSON: Northern District -- C&T; Management Inc. reported to police that two fires were set in a vacant apartment the company manages at 2758 Virginia Ave. The fires, which were discovered about 8:45 p.m. yesterday, caused about $3,000 in damage to the apartment.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- The 7-Eleven store at Keswick Road and 33rd Street was robbed last night by two men. According to police, the men, armed with a handgun, entered the store at 401 E. 33rd St. about 10 p.m. and demanded money from the cash register and the customers. Hal Chung, 38, a store employee, gave the robbers about $170; Michael Decker, 40, who lives in the 3200 block of Abell Ave., was robbed of $80; and Tom Barron, 28, who lives in the 3600 block of Elkader Road, gave up $20. It was not known whether the men escaped on foot or used a vehicle.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Keith Carr, who lives in the 4000 block of Maine Ave., was robbed by two men in the 1800 block of Clifton Ave. about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, police said. According to police, Carr was approached by two teen-agers who pointed a handgun at him and demanded his money. He gave them $30.

BURGLARY: Western District -- A woman who lives in the 2700 block of Lafayette Ave. told police that her house was burglarized by someone she knows. A rear window was broken at the house and several items, including a videocassette recorder, earphones, a watch and a credit card, were taken. Total value of the stolen items was placed at almost $550.

PURSE SNATCH: Western District -- Judy Murray, of the 1300 block of N. Carey St., told police she was in the 1200 block of Presstman St. when her purse was grabbed by a man. Murray was carrying $396.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Someone knocked a hole in the third-floor wall at Han's Food Market, 946 W. Baltimore St., and made off with some meat.

ASSAULT: Southwestern District -- Sharon Crosby, who lives in the 4900 block of Parkton St., told police she was quarreling with someone in her apartment and the person took a shot at her. Crosby was not injured in the Tuesday incident, police said.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Lois Devera, who lives in the 3300 block of S. Smallwood St., was on her way home from the grocery store about 9 a.m. yesterday when she was approached by a man who punched her in the head, knocked her to the ground and took her groceries and wallet. Total loss in the theft was placed at $374.

PURSE SNATCH: Southwestern District -- Sharon Johnson was near her home in the 100 block of S. Monastery Ave. when a man ran up behind her and grabbed her purse, which contained $150.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Anna Stewart, address unavailable, was knocked to the ground in the 300 block of S. Pulaski St. and robbed of her purse, which contained $431.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone broke into the laundry room at the Nottingham Apartments, in the 700 block of TC Nottingham Road, and stole the coins from the coin-operated washers and dryers.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Items valued at $600 were stolen from a home in the 3700 block of Nortonia Road after someone entered the house through the rear door.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Bernadette Evans was assaulted and robbed of $90 at gunpoint in the 300 block of N. Franklintown Road about 5:15 p.m. yesterday.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- A man pointed a gun at Reginald McCray, of the 2100 block of Mount Holly St., while he was in the 3100 block of W. North Ave. McCray told police $406 was taken from him.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Central District -- A 60-year-old man was arrested and charged in an attack on Ruby Milner, of the 2200 block of Callow Ave. Police said Frederick Pinto, of the same address, was being held at the station, awaiting bail review. Milner was hit with a hammer and cut by scissors on the back of her head.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A front door was pried open in the 900 block of N. Charles St. and a videocassette recorder, radio, television and coins were stolen.

SHOOTING: Central District -- Ralston Desmond Anderson, 44, was in stable condition at University of Maryland Medical Center today after he was shot twice in an attempted robbery early yesterday in the 2400 block of Lakeview Ave.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone kicked in the door at Precision Tune, 2042 N. Howard St., and stole tools valued at $750.

ROBBERY TRY: Central District -- Phelisia Neal, 42, was getting into her car in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. when a young man ran up behind her and tried to grab her purse. The woman managed to hold on to her pocketbook, but the man slapped her across the face and ran.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- Margaret Lies told police she had parked her car in the 3100 block of Belair Road when someone broke in and removed a louvered shade valued at $150.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- Deborah Overbey told police that money orders and cash totaling $406 were taken from a location in the 4800 block of Lorelly Ave.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- Someone entered a yard in the 2500 block of Westfield Ave. and took two Michelin tires valued at $160.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- The Hair Cuttery at 5100 Sinclair Lane was ransacked early yesterday, but it had not been determined whether anything was taken.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- An air compressor belonging to Adler Electric Co. was removed from a construction site in the 6700 block of Harford Road.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- The Three Rivers Trucking Co. reported that two specialized racing bicycles valued at $700 were taken from a trailer in the 6700 block of Quad Ave.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Norcella Ervin told police she was walking in the 2300 block of Belair Road about 2 p.m. yesterday when two men came up behind her, pushed her to the ground and stole property valued at $400.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone forced open the back door of a house in the 2600 block of Aisquith St., taking property valued at $1,150.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- A 12-year-old girl at Hamilton Middle School, 5609 Sefton Ave., was putting something away in her locker when someone took her $400 coat from the floor.

LARCENY/AUTO: Northeastern District -- An A&R; Heating Co. van, parked in the 5000 block of Ardmore Way, was broken into and $475 worth of property was taken.

LARCENY/AUTO: Northeastern District -- Someone entered an unlocked 1989 Ford parked in the 7100 block of Supply Ave. and took property valued at $380.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke a window at a house in the 6000 block of Alta Ave., then reached in, unlocked the door, entered the house and took property valued at $1,350.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A house in the 1500 block of E. Coldspring Lane was burglarized of property valued at $599 after someone broke a basement window to gain entry.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Property valued at $913 was taken from a house in the 5900 block of Eurith Road after someone broke a basement window.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- An employee of Little Joe's, 5426 Sinclair Lane, was robbed at gunpoint while delivering food in the 5500 block of Sarril Road. Police said about $60 was taken.

LARCENY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke a window in a 1986 Ford parked in the 700 block of E. 25th St. and took property valued at $300.

Baltimore County

BURGLARY: White Marsh District -- Burglars made off with $5,000 and a gold band valued at $150 after prying open a side door at a home in the 6100 block of Marglenn Ave. and ransacking a bedroom.

ROBBERY: North Point District -- Two employees of 84 Lumber, 3809 Edgewater Place, were robbed of the night deposit bag by two men armed with a rifle and a knife, then locked in the trunk of a car. However, Mark Boback and Larry Feinberg freed themselves with a pair of vise grips and called police.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- A man asked Raymond McMackin to give him a ride to the Rite Aid, 6325 York Road. Police said the man then took six cartons of Newport cigarettes and jumped into the car, saying, "All right, pops, let's go." When McMackin refused, the other man pulled a gun and said: "If you don't crank it up, I'll shoot." Instead, McMackin jumped out of the car and the man drove off in the 1982 blue Chevette.
