* Houston Astros -- Agreed to terms with Eric Yelding (shortstop) on a one-year contract.

* Montreal Expos -- Agreed to terms with Bob McDonald (pitcher) on a one-year contract.

rTC * Philadelphia Phillies -- Agreed to terms with Wes Chamberlain (outfielder) and Charlie Hayes (third baseman) on one-year contracts. Renewed the contracts of Jose DeJesus and Darrel Akerfelds (pitchers), Darrin Fletcher (catcher) and Sil Campusano (outfielder).

* Pittsburgh Pirates -- Agreed to terms with Stan Belinda (pitcher) on a one-year contract.

* San Diego Padres -- Agreed to terms with Derek Lilliquist, Andy Benes, Candy Sierra, Greg Harris and Rafael Valdez (pitchers), Oscar Azocar, Shawn Abner and Jim Vatcher (outfielders) and Kevin Garner (infielder) on one-year contracts.

HOCKEY (NHL) * St. Louis Blues -- Sent Tom Draper (goaltender) to Peoria of the International Hockey League and Alain Raymond (goaltender) to Nashville of the East Coast Hockey League.

SOCCER (MSL) * League -- Suspended Mike Stankovic (Blast defenseman) for one game and fined him $1,000 for punching Tacoma's Steve Kinsey in a game Feb. 24.

COLLEGE * Clemson -- Named Jim Sheridan men's and women's swimming coach.

* Florida -- Named Charles Strong defensive end coach.

* Ohio State -- Announced that Bobby April (defensive backs coach) has resigned to become special teams coach with the Atlanta Falcons.
