NEW YORK -- Noreen Winterfeldt scored a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds and Jennifer Spafford added 15 yesterday to lead Iona to a 72-58 victory over Loyola College in the first round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament at Manhattan College.

Kiah Stokes of Loyola (4-24, 1-16) led all scorers with a season-high 18, and Justine Shay added 15.

Karin Byrnes came off the bench to score 11 for the Gaels (5-23, 2-15), which will meet top-seeded Fairfield tonight in the quarterfinals.
