Funding approved for St. Louis stadium

THE BALTIMORE SUN

ST. LOUIS -- The Missouri House of Representatives yesterday recommended full state funding for construction of the $250 million downtown domed stadium and convention center project that city and state leaders hope will help lure the National Football League back to St. Louis.

The measure must now pass the Missouri Senate and then would have to be signed by Gov. John Ashcroft.

Under an agreement negotiated in January 1990, the state will pay for half the cost of developing the stadium and convention center expansion. The city of St. Louis and St. Louis County each will provide 25 percent of the funding.
