A man walked into a Brooklyn Park bank Thursday morning, announced aholdup and got away with an undetermined amount of money.
Police say the man gave a teller a note demanding only $20, $50, and $100 bills and warned against any employee sounding alarms. He did not show any weapon.
The robbery occurred at 11:15 a.m. at the Vermont Federal Savingsand Loan, in the unit block Hammonds Lane.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing a jean jacket, blue jeans, a ski jacket and sunglasses. Witnesses told police the man "seemed not to be in a hurry."
WOMAN'S $2,100 TAKEN IN BANK LOT
A 25-year-old woman was robbed Thursday afternoon of more than $2,100 in the parking lot of the First National Bank in Glen Burnie.
A police report says Julie A. Crews, of the 8000 block Green Orchard Road, Glen Burnie, was getting out of her car at 12:45 p.m. when a man standing next to her demanded money.
Crews told police she gave him $150 and a $150 money order. When she opened her purse, the man saw an additional $1,880 -- in checks and cash -- from her office she planned to deposit.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, thin build wearing a green turtle neck pullover and an army jacket.
BYSTANDERS CATCH WOULD-BE ROBBERS
Two bystanders caught one of five men who are charged with breaking into a sporting goods store in Pasadena Thursday and stealing a handgun. Police arrested the other four men.
Police arrived at Daulbert Sport Shop, 4700 block Mountain Road, to find two men holding a 15-year-oldjuvenile. The boy then pointed to a truck driving by and said the three men inside also were involved.
A fifth suspect was arrested near the store.
Police say they found a hole in the ceiling of the store and the owner said a handgun was missing.
When police stoppedthe truck that the juvenile had pointed out, they found a handgun under the front seat, but not the one that was reported stolen. The stolen gun was found in the jacket pocket of the fifth suspect, who was arrested at the intersection of Mountain Road and Maryland Avenue, police said.
Jason Douglas Paulen, 20, of the 12000 block Rockledge Drive in Bowie, was charged with breaking and entering, felony theft,destruction of property and possession of a handgun in a concealed manner.
Barry Ray Moore Jr. 18, of the 12000 block Tempo Lane, Bowie, was charged with breaking and entering, felony theft, destruction of property and possession of a handgun.
Gene Michael Hutchinson, 20, of the 9400 block Hickory Street, Capitol Heights, was charged with breaking and entering and felony theft.
