A memorial service for Sharon M. Tipton, an environmental protection specialist at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Port Deposit.

Mrs. Tipton, who was 46 and lived in Port Deposit, died Wednesday at University Hospital after a long illness.

A supervisor of the disposal of toxic solid materials, she had worked at the Edgewood Arsenal area for 28 years.

The former Sharon Montgomery was born in Fountain Green and graduated from Edgewood High School. She attended the Harford Community College.

Her husband, Russell B. Tipton, a mail carrier, died in 1987.

She is survived by her parents, James L. and Jettie S. Montgomery of Lewisburg, W.Va.; a brother, William N. Montgomery of Hickory, N.C.; and a sister, Stephanie J. Montgomery of Baltimore.

The family suggested contributions to the American Cancer Society.
