Coppin wins, 65-55 Morgan falls, 67-50 State women

NORFOLK, Va. -- LaShawn Scott scored 14 points and had four assists, as Coppin State (17-8) defeated Delaware State, 65-55, in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament at the Scope last night.

In another quarterfinal, North Carolina A&T; defeated Morgan State, 67-50.

Coppin moves to the MEAC semifinals for the first time. The Eagles will face South Carolina State, a 57-53 winner over Bethune-Cookman, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.

In Morgan State's loss, the Bears held a 31-30 halftime lead, then scored just 19 second-half points.
