Gibbons' Mullis to coach all-stars

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Cardinal Gibbons' Ray Mullis, the area's winningest basketball coach, has been chosen to coach the East team in the McDonald's East vs. West high school all-star game April 6 in Springfield, Mass.

"It's a great honor," said Mullis who has won 540 games in 27 seasons at Gibbons. "It means a lot to our school and our program. I'm certainly not the program. It's guys like [assistant coaches] Bryan Moorehouse and Mike Dahlem and the players we've had. It's a tribute to them."

The game will be televised by ABC.

This will be Mullis' second opportunity to coach some of country's best high school players. In 1980 he coached the U.S. All-Star team in the Capital Classic. That team included Michael Jordan.
