Severna Park tops Arundel Girls basketball

Lori Sharpless scored 14 points, as host Severna Park rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat Arundel (13-8), 43-39, in a state Class 4A, Region IV quarterfinal game last night.

Severna Park (16-6) will visit fourth-ranked Old Mill in a semifinal tomorrow night at 7.

The Falcons made only 10 of 22 free-throw attempts, but Arundel took just three foul shots, making two.

Kristi Greer scored 23 to lead No. 10 Howard (16-7) to a 69-42 win over visiting Thomas Johnson (7-14) in a Class 3A, Region I contest. Howard will visit Linganore in tomorrow's 7 p.m. semifinal.

Elaina Franklin scored six straight points in overtime to lead host Lansdowne (13-8) to a 54-47 victory over C.M. Wright (13-8) in a Class 3A, Region III game. Jamie Day scored 13 to lead Lansdowne, which will visit Catonsville in a semifinal tomorrow night at 7.

Kacy Williams scored 20 and Emily Minah added 15, as host Hammond (12-11) routed Chesapeake of Baltimore County (8-11), 74-29, in a Class 2A, Region II game. Hammond will visit second-ranked Mount Hebron in a semifinal tomorrow night at 7.

In another Class 2A, Region II contest, Jill Ross scored 16, as host Towson (18-2) routed Patapsco (8-11), 84-38. Towson will visit Loch Raven in a semifinal tomorrow night at 7.
