CURRENT volunteers' news and needs:

For the USO. Workers Patti Horn, Flo Polinsky and Lee Winkler at the law firm Whiteford, Taylor & Preston volunteered and made more than 250 yellow bows and sold them for $510. Their firm matched that amount and sent a check for $1,020 to the USO headquarters in Arlington, Va., last week.


Baltimore VA Medical Center wants volunteers to work in a number of areas throughout the center. Contact the Office of Voluntary Service and Public Affairs, 467-9932, Ext. 5451.

HERO, Health Education Resource Organization, wants volunteers in many areas including the Hotline Information and Referral service for people with AIDS. Call 685-1180.


Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital wants volunteers ages 18 and older to conduct tours of the hospital's historic buildings. Training is provided and scheduling is flexible. Call 938-4850.

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, which raises funds for diabetes research, wants volunteers to work in the office answering the phone, typing, data entry and with special events and fund-raising. Hours are flexible. Call 356-4555.

Levindale offers care for aged and chronically ill. The volunteer auxiliary is holding a luncheon fund-raiser at 5:30 p.m. March 17 at Danielle's Bluecrest in Pikesville. Eat, dance and see a performance of "Sadie and Seymour's Simcha." Reservations are $90 per person. Call 664-4566.

Harvest for the Hungry. Gloria Brennan's beauty salon in the Pikesville Hilton Plaza will accept donated food for the Maryland Food Bank throughout the year. Details, 356-8868.

Maryland Lupus Foundation is offering a free program open to all, "All About Lupus," from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 23 at Johns Hopkins Hospital-Tilghman Room. Reservations suggested. Call 366-7272.
