John Amos Truck mechanic


James Amos, a retired truck mechanic, died Feb. 16 at the Harbor Hospital Center of a respiratory illness.

Mr. Amos, who was 68 and lived on Rayshire Road in Southwest Baltimore, retired about three years ago from the Navistar International Corp., where he had worked for nearly 30 years. During World War II, he had served in the Army Air Forces as a mechanic planes of the Flying Tigers in China and other units in the area.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lois Burget; five sons, William Amos of Columbia, Daniel Amos of Baltimore, Richard Amos of Apple Valley, Calif., David Amos of Shemya, Alaska, and Larry Amos of Pine Bluff, N.C.; two brothers, George Cross of Pasadena and Samuel Cross of Arnold; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Private services were planned.
