Economic rebound

THE BALTIMORE EVENING SUN

The Bush administration expects the economy to recover from the recession beginning this summer and predicts a brisker upturn by the end of the year. But some economists are more pessimistic.

Of 382 Evening Sun readers and other callers to Sundial, 144 (37.6 percent) agreed that the economy will begin to improve in mid-summer. Eighty-four callers (21.9 percent) predicted the recovery will begin at the end of the year.

The more pessimistic callers included 69 (18 percent) who said the recession will continue into 1992 and 85 (22.2 percent) who believe it will last even longer.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
