Here's what to look out for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week, based on information from state and local highway agencies and the Mass Transit Administration. The list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is currently extensive on several highways, including I-95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Highway plans are subject to change because of weather or other factors.

New highway projects

* In Anne Arundel County, the southern extension of Route 10 connecting Route 100 with Ritchie Highway is scheduled to open Saturday morning.

* Also in Anne Arundel County, there will be stoppages at night (10 p.m.-6 a.m.) for as long as 15 minutes at a time on eastbound U.S. 50/301 to set structural steel at Cape St. Clair Road. From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. one lane only will be open.

* In Baltimore County, two lanes on inner loop of Beltway (I-695) on bridge over Milford Mill Road closed 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m. today for deck repair.

Light rail construction

* Eastbound ramp from Northern Parkway eastbound ramp to southbound Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) closed daily, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., for utility work on light rail line. Traffic directed to southbound JFX access ramp from westbound Northern Parkway.

* Dolphin Street between Howard Street and Mount Royal Avenue now one-way westbound. Traffic coming from south via Martin Luther King Boulevard destined for northbound Jones Falls Expressway continues east to Chase Street, east on Chase to Cathedral Street, then north at 1100 block of Cathedral to Mount Royal Avenue and expressway.

Bus route changes

The MTA has scheduled the following changes in bus routes. For more information, call 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

Continuing diversions

No. 8 (Inner Harbor) -- Because of subway construction, northbound buses travel via regular route to Pratt Street, east on Pratt, north on Gay Street to Baltimore Street, then via regular route. No change southbound.
