Timothy Lee Malone Retired bay pilot


A Mass of Christian burial for Timothy Lee Malone, a retired Chesapeake Bay pilot, will be offered at 10 a.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road in Severna Park.

Mr. Malone, who was 78 and had homes in Severna Park and in Naples, Fla., died Wednesday of cancer at his Florida home.

He retired more than 20 years. He had taken ships up and down the bay since joining the Association of Maryland Pilots in 1928.

A native of Baltimore, he graduated from Calvert Hall College High School.

He was a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club.

Mr. Malone is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Jeanne Marie Gartland.
