Challenge My Duty wins at Laurel

THE BALTIMORE SUN

LAUREL -- Challenge My Duty, making his first start since finishing fourth in the $500,000 Hawthorne Gold Cup in November, drew out to a two-length victory in the $25,000 feature at Laurel Race Course yesterday.

The 4-year-old colt had been pointed for Saturday's General George Stakes, but skipped it in favor of the easier allowance conditions yesterday.

Challenge My Duty, ridden by Marco Castaneda, stalked the pace, then closed steadily to defeat Marie's Playboy, who rallied from last. The winner ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1 minute, 17 seconds.
