Dr. Sang Choo


Dr. Sang Choo, who practiced Chinese medicine in Baltimore and in Virginia, died Tuesday at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington of complications to a ruptured blood vessel.

He was 51 and had lived in Annandale, Va., for the past 3 1/2 years.

Services for Dr. Choo were being held today at the Ruck Towson funeral establishment, 1050 York Road.

A native of Korea and a graduate of the Asian Medical College in Seoul, South Korea, he came to the United States in 1974 and lived briefly in Portland, Ore., before coming to Baltimore.

He continued his practice of herbal medicine and acupuncture in Baltimore, coming here several days a week after moving to Virginia.

A former president of the Korean Society of Maryland, Dr. Choo also was a founder of the Hyundai Plaza commercial facility on North Charles Street.

He is survived by his wife, the former Hak Ja Kim; a son, Kee Won Choo of Annandale; a daughter, Yoon Yi Choo of Annandale; his mother, Pil Soon Park of Seoul; and three brothers and three sisters in Korea.
