SOUTHERN GIRLS NIP ANNAPOLIS

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Visiting Southern (9-10) survived a scare from Annapolis, nipping the hosts, 45-43, in overtime to clinch a non-league girls basketball win on Tuesday.

Panther center Lisa Roberts (14 points) sent the game into overtime with a follow off of a missed shot just before the end of regulation.

Bulldog center Landra Phillips registered her only bucket of the night, scoring on a three-point play with 19 seconds left in the overtime period. Lindee Sisk led Southern with 14 points, followed by Talaya Barnett's 11-point, 15-rebound performance. Kim Smith pitched in 10 points for the winners, while freshman Laekeka Wesley hauled down a team-high 20 rebounds in addition to scoring seven points.

"Annapolis was very big inside, so I was surprised that Wesley and Barnettcame up with as many rebounds as they did," said Southern coach Linda Kilpatrick.
