Michael F. Brockmeyer, a partner at the law firm of Piper & Marbury, is appointed to the advisory board of the Bureau of National Affairs' Antitrust & Trade Regulation Report. He is a specialist in antitrust regulation and enforcement.

Helping out

Suzanne Offit is named the director for HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. She was previously the assistant director of development and director of annual giving at the Maryland Science Center.

HIAS, an agency of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, assists immigrants and their host families with technicalities in U.S. immigration and naturalization law, meets immigrants arriving in Baltimore and helps to search for missing relatives.

Food service

John McGraw is named vice president of the Food Service Division of Wilkins Coffee Inc. He joined the company in 1988 and most recently worked as director of the division. He is part of a new management team that reintroduced Wilkins Coffee to the Baltimore, Washington and Richmond markets.

Charles A. Berardesco is appointed a partner with the law firm of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston. A corporate and securities law professional, he joined the firm in 1988.

Thomas C. Ries, a partner with the firm of Rosenthal, Kaufmaand Ries, is elected to fellowship in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which is dedicated to improving the practice, elevating the standards and advancing the cause of matrimonial law throughout the country.

At Kaplan, Heyman, Greenberg, Engleman & Belgrad, Barry Weiskopf is named a partner. He joined the firm in 1983, and concentrates in real estate and business law.

Steven A. Simon is named a principal with Walpert, Smullian & Blumenthal, a certified public accounting/management consulting firm. He joined the firm in 1984, and most recently worked as senior manager for the Automotive Industry Service Group. He specializes in consulting and financial reporting for automobile dealerships.

At Grabush, Newman & Co., Kenneth M. Eyler joins the Accounting and Auditing Department. He will be responsible for compilations, reviews and tax return preparation.

James E. Grady is named vice president of asset

management for The KMS Group, a Constellation company. He will direct the complete property management function for the commercial real estate developer. He was previously vice president and partner of Virginia Realty and Development Co. in Richmond.

Matthew B. LaMotte joins the staff of Environmental Concern Inc. and its affiliate, Environmental Construction Co. He will head overall management and development for operations at the St. Michaels-based firm, which provides consulting, planning and design and construction services.

N. Denise Schnitzer is named director, aerobics programs, for the Normandy Health and Fitness Center in Ellicott City.


James M. Cloud is named vice president at Greiner Inc., an architectural and engineering firm. A 28-year veteran of the firm, he is chief of architecture and manager of the Institutional Division in the mid-Atlantic cluster, where he is responsible for marketing and coordinating new projects, analyzing their profitability and for overall design and activities of the firm's project architects.

At the plant

Debra L. Botterhill is named brand manager-Old Bay operations for the McCormick/Schilling Division of McCormick & Co. Inc. She will be responsible for brand management of the Old Bay line of seafood products.

She previously spent 16 years with Baltimore Spice Co., where she served as director of marketing for Old Bay. McCormick acquired the Old Bay Co. from Hanson Industries last August.


Mark T. Dougherty, purchasing manager for Chapel Valley Landscape Co., is named president of the Maryland Nurserymen's Association. The association, which has 334 corporate members, sponsors seminars, provides financial grants to educational institutions, and is involved with state legislation that promotes the horticulture industry, among other things.
