Raymond J. Winkel Former civil engineer


Raymond J. Winkel Sr., a retired civil engineer, died Thursday of pneumonia at St. Joseph Hospital.

Services for Mr. Winkel, who was 74 and lived in the Hamilton area, were held yesterday at the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church.

A Baltimore native, he was a civil engineer for the city of Baltimore for 42 years before his retirement in 1983.

Mr. Winkel's wife, the former Nellie M. Ramage, died in 1988.

Surviving are a daughter, June M. Hudak of Brookfield, Conn.; two sons, Francis R. Winkel of Oxford, Miss., and Raymond J. Winkel Jr. of West Point, N.Y.; a sister, Marie Martin of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.

The family suggested memorial donations to Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, where Mr. Winkel was a member.
